Also. if you don't like the crust, the large is a better value, but if you like the crust (or want 2 different crusts) that plays a factor

worked at dominos like 15 years ago. they used the same dough lumps for their medium, large, and the brooklyn style pizza at the time. pizza maker just stretched it more to make it bigger. You do get more surface area for toppings, but its not as cut and dry like OP implies.
