Is the white picket fence and 2 children dream just a relic of the past?
Id like to have children but I can't see how I can actually buy a house and even sustain children on the incomes people usually have nowadays. And i have tertiary education and make well above minimum but still cost of living is insane.
It seems you can still do it if you are willing to go into thousands of dollars of debt.

That kind of house is so mediocre and boring.. I'd wanna live on the lake surrounded by nature and fresh water. A log cabin in Lake Tahoe, that would be the dream. Never settle for mediocrity.
It's called two incomes. My fiance and I plan to buy a house and have a family, though we only want one kid.

>cost of living is insane Move to flyover country. It's great out here, you don't know what you're missing.

yes. I'm married and live in a house and people in my suburb are so rude, telling us we're too young to actually be married, or asking how many other people are in the house. You get treated like a fucking martian for trying to live a nice life. I'm skipping town, that's for sure.
Any escape might help to smooth The unattractive truth But the suburbs have no charms to soothe The restless dreams of youth

>the white picket fence and 2 children dream just a relic of the past? Yes, unless you luck your way into a 6 figure salary between you and your partner you're never going to be able to afford a 4 person house. Then good luck keeping 2 children while your wife doesn't work on maternity leave since Murrica provides nothing to its workforce for just after giving birth. This is the reality for people trying to start families today because our leaders have fucked up the country so much.

>unless you luck your way into a 6 figure salary between you and your partner Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying, earning 50k each isn't that hard if you're educated.

Yup. This is the dream of the past when you could get a house and support an entire family on a mid-level income. Sorry. It’s a new age. You just have to try and outsmart your debt, don’t get married and try not to kill your self realizing that getting ahead in a career isn’t in your favor, ever.
