If you have military, trade school, or college drop out experience then you’re input would be appreciated.
Basically I’m a new sophomore who hates being in school and was pressured into it and it’s debt in the first place. I know for certain I want to go to the military, and since they would pay for college that’s more of an incentive to leave now but it’s besides the point. The semester just started and all my bills have already been paid by a mother who knows I want to drop out. Is there any benefit at all to finishing my second year in its entirety? Because I was just going to leave after this semester ends, take the credits and run for the hills. I have intention on doing as well as possible this semester to end my transcript on a good note. I don’t know what I’m in college for, can’t be assed to care about my major and I’m uninterested in picking a new one. I’m simply not interested in academia and I’m more inclined to investigate trade schools, but since the military is my primary goal and all that stuff would come after, at the moment it’s all irrelevant and I should just cut and run after this semester right?
I know this is horribly specific but I’m just so nervous about this debt I’m racking up. The military is all that’s certain for me, am I stupid for wanting to focus everything on that and not pay thousands to go to adult day care? Should I just have left earlier?
Join the military, fighting for Israel, Freedom™ and Arabian oil companies can really man you up

I was going to type up a big blogpost, but fuck it; user you are absolutely on point with your concerns about debt, and in all honesty you could do MUCH worse than joining the military when you drop out (at least you actually have a plan). I would say finish whatever you already paid for if you can't get it back, and then pack up and do what YOU want to do. I'm sure your parents will understand that you gave it a shot, but it wasn't for you and you have definitely thought this through. Good luck, and Godspeed user.

Woah man you’re totally redpilling me into not joining woahhshhsh If you don’t have advice for my situation and are just gonna be sarcastic, why post at all?
Jaxson Young
I was not being sarcastic dude. Freedom ain't free boy, you gotta pay it somehow!

Thank you user. I’m concerned mostly about beefing up my transcript before departing but was wondering if there’s any reason dropping out mid-year is ill-advised, or if abruptly leaving is (for some reason) a good idea.

If you want to join the military you need to have an HS diploma or GED equivilent, but the rate of acceptance for GEDs are extremely low.
And as a vet I would highly recommend the military. Best decision I ever made in my life.

I have a diploma, am a college sophomore not high school. Did you ever use your GI bill? How effective was it?

I dropped out of college sophomore year, spent 10 years traveling, doing temp-work, delivering pizza, waiting tables, etc... most of those jobs really sucked, but it helped me figure out what I actually want to do. I went back to college and got a degree in microbiology. I love what I do, and am glad I didn't just finish up with a degree I wouldn't end up using or stuck in a career I didn't like and a bunch of debt...

So time is what helped you? I think time is what I need right now more than anything else. When my mom put the screws to me about going to college, my lack of a plan is what made me cave.
