Can anyone give honest (but not like mean.. if it’s bad I get it but I don’t need really mean insults!) advice/opinion of me singing , honestly don’t know if I’m absolutely horrible because I’m too shy to sing in front of anyone, but I love music/singing and would be awesome if I could do something Inmusic.. I guess if my voice is bad maybe just playing piano

Thanks!!

Some shaky moments I'd probably attribute to a lack of confidence. As well as that some of the higher registers you don't seem to quite hit. You actually have a really nice voice, you just need practice. (maybe breathing practice as well because it is very apparent when you breathe) I'm not a singer so I'm not quite sure but I did play music for a while so my view isn't totally worthless.

Tbh thought you were like 13 or 14 at the beginning but I would say it's a good voice to start, might need some work (like if I would now) but it's an amazing way to start. Keep it up

Lmao ,
I have like a young sounding voice since forever, but I’m in my 20s. Thanks!

True, thank you I’ll keep practicing!

I’m actually surprised with these responses lol, yeah i def don’t have most
Confidence

Part 2

(Tried being more confidant)

I thought you were an 11 year old boy at first but other than that it was pretty good. Like if you were to sing at some social event I wouldn't feel embarrassed for you.

V good user that for the most part sounds a lot better, in the beginning still kinda that lack of confidence vibe but even the best singers get nervous. That was much more consistent and really nice. Also, breathe in a different spot than 40 secs, it was a weird spot to breathe, keep practicing user, you sing really nicely.

You are better than people who "can't sing" but still only really average. Poor control of your voice. You could probably improve a lot with practice and/or voice coaching.

Fairly good singer: youtube.com/watch?v=mbwUs1rnuQg
Practice by emulating those that are good, also the voice coach isn't a bad idea.

Lmaooo. Thank you

Thanks!! Yeah I have trouble with breathing In between I’ll work on

Okay thank you that’s helpful and I’m ton shy to get lessons lol but I’ll keep practicing

I did the first part re-recorded.. I’m not sure if it’s better or worse haha

Not as good as the first vid to my ear, your notes are mostly flat and sound wrong.

No need to be shy about voice coaching. You've got good enough pitch matching that with practice you could be a halfway decent singer, and you're paying for their time so they'll happily help you if they can.

I have a friend who narrowly escapes the "can't sing" category who started voice coaching because he wanted to be able to sing and he thinks it's fun. He'll never be great I don't think but he's definitely improved.

I enjoy the consistency of the second one but the first one was a mix of some really nice qualities and some really meh ones, you got this user.

You definitely don't sound bad! I actually really like the way your voice sounds. Just needs a little fine tuning/more practice. Your notes are mostly the correct pitch but I would practice getting them as perfect as possible. Also, your timing could use a little bit of work, maybe slow it down a little to get the spacing of words right, or practice with a metronome.

You're off key a lot. I had to listen to the original to make sure that this wasn't how the song actually sounds.

I'm not sure if that's because you have poor pitch control from lack of practice or if you're somewhat tone deaf. Do you really hear yourself as being on-key when you listen to the playback?

You might want to try working on a song that has a simpler melody or an accompaniment that gives you a better guide for the note you should be singing, or simply practice by singing the same note that you're playing on the piano. You may also find it easier to stay in key if you shift the key you're playing in to one that is more comfortable for your vocal range.

My niece sings and struggled for a few years before she finally figured out how to sing in key consistently. Seeing a vocal coach may help.

You're a bit tentative sounding sometimes, but I do like the tonal quality of your voice.

I’m tone def!!!!

I don’t like hear my own tones.!! Yeah. I’ve always thought that!! :( I think that’s the biggest thing that’s hard for me..

Thanks for your help. I’ll definitely try to look into fixing that...

i like the quality of your voice and the childish naivety but your singing is often quite bad. when it sounds like you aren't trying as hard and almost talking its better; your natural voice. when you are trying to hit high notes and sounding like you are trying to "sound like a pop singer" (which sounds forced and whiny to me), it gets pretty out of tune, and the tempo gets off too.

i understand that is easier said than done, though. "just b urself lol". i can't sing at all.

you dont always have to be pitch-perfect like an over-produced pop star, some people like it to sound flawed and human. "a song should have at least one note out of tune or its soulless" - i heard someone say words to that affect once. of course, you can't be completely flat / sharp, or it sounds shit.

for instance Electrelane have that human naivety/flawed quality -

people that only listen to commercial radio would probably say "these girls can barely sing".

If you can play the piano and can tell when you hit a wrong note, you may lack some sensitivity in hearing small variations in pitch, but you're definitely not completely tone deaf.

Again, a vocal coach may be able to help, and there are some phone apps that use the mic to help you adjust your vocal pitch so that you can learn to sing on key.

Try singing the same note that you play on the piano, and see how that turns out. Pick something simple like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (the alphabet song).

Thank u. I think sometimes I “force” becaus I otherwise feel like I’m talking instead of singing... :| I have a lot of bands/artists I really like that can’t sing conventionally well at all but they have really good music and their voices are unique just not conventional but sound really good just in their own way so yeah I totally get that

I tried singing a diff song more on key and it was really really hard like I really tried singing on key and feel like I’m still not. This could
Be way worse than the other clips.. idk.. does it sound any better??

Sound any better or worse !?

I don't want to discourage you from doing something you enjoy, but you're off key a lot.

Most people that have posted are pussyfooting around what needs to be said. Those videos are horrible and you sound like trash. Work hard to improve yourself.
