Keep in mind that these meetings took place after the Russia investigation started, so if Trump wasn't working with Russia he would've known it was in his best interest to keep everything as above board and transparent as possible.

I don't think Trump is a puppet or anything retarded, but its entirely believable that Russia obtained polling information which he employed to the advantage of Trump because of Trump's stated anti-interventionist policies. He was, and is, a far better candidate when it comes to Russia's national security, it stands to reason that they would want to influence things in his favor.

And It stands to reason that a person as unscrupulous as some of his administration would be complicit in facilitating this. And there's been evidence that points to as much.
