The narrative is genius because it's now culturally accepted that 6 million jews died at auschwitz with "Schindler's list" , so disputing that automatically makes you a holocaust denier even though you're right. So now you spend all this time "disproving the official story" when there's nothing to even disprove. It's a sleight of hand trick that makes you waste your time on disproving an "official story" that doesn't actually exist in any tangible form, thereby actually making it impossible to disprove. Since the official story doesn't exist, the left can just adapt the holocaust to criticize anything it doesn't like.
e.g. Sean Spicer claiming Hitler "didn't use chemical weapons" was meant to state that Hitler never used nerve agents like Assad did, despite actually having nerve gas that could've decimated the british civilian population more than nuclear weapons technology at the time. The gas chambers on the other hand used cyanide like Assad used without penalty. The left immediately started trying to use the holocaust despite it being totally different chemicals.

I don't know about the correctness of this statement. I know that the red army hadn't reached these camps until several days after they were retired. They might've also brought in coroners to investigate the bodies. I would make an argument that there does exist autopsy reports butI know better than to bring up soviet evidence because I know deniers are not fond of it.
