I’ve always suspected that some hospitals/doctors take advantage of health insurance, what do you think about this?

For example, when I was in high school my step mom upgraded her health insurance to cover cancer treatments (I don’t remember the details so I plead ignorance on the specifics), within weeks she was diagnosed with cancer. I’m not saying they made it up, but is it possible that they didn’t bother pursuing it in the past because they knew it wouldn’t be cost effective if it turned out to actually be cancer?

I also hear a lot of stories like “I went in for surgery and it turns out that it wasn’t as bad as they thought it was”. Do doctors and hospitals sometimes take advantage of insurance companies in order to make up for other unrecovered costs? I’m not asking on a moral level, because I know how immoral those things would be, I’m asking purely on a pragmatic level if it actually occurs.

I’ve heard stories like that too. My mom’s friend had some kind of abnormality and the first opinion was that it was benign, it wasn’t until later that she got a second opinion and the prognosis was much worse. The first organization kept denying it was a problem until she started having other symptoms and finally they did tests to find out she had cancer. She fought for a few years but ultimately lost the battle. Her son committed suicide a few years later.

I don’t know what the insurance situation was and that’s not why I brought it up, but even though the first organization was blatantly wrong and possibly deserving of a malpractice suit, nothing ever happened.

When i was a kid i got into a lot of fights and in one of them this kid just kicked me in the balls really hard, i was prepuberty so my ball went back into my groin. Im not that dumb i was an aemt and i talked with docs frequently. So i asked him if it would reduce my testosterone (since the cat scan claimed my teste was still functioning, just not for sperm), he said "it shouldn't". WOW, THANKS! Then he gave me the papers and said he had to go, if i wanted to do he told me to call him to schedule the surgery and bring the papers signed, that said "You risk low libido, depression, hypogonadism, etc..." basically you become low-t. If i was a regular dude and had complete faith in docs i would be a low test faggot now. My cousin had testicular torsion last year and they removed it and hes clinically depressed posting me irl memes on his fucking facebook.

It's a harsh thing to say user but you should never trust anyone in this life, Blood is thicker than water and they're less likely to betray you than others, but that doesn't excuse being careless as even they can prove to be bad relatives.

modern medicine is good for acute illnesses. If you have something chronic i would not fully rely on regular doctors for it. I would look up "functional medicine" or even naturopathy .

doctors are overworked and biased. If you have anything slightly non typical they wont have the mental time to handle it.
they also screw heavy to the "stop it" philosophy. Like lets say you lift weights or play tennis with your son. ANd you say my back(knees) hurts after I do that . They will say "well stop doing that" which sounds fine at first, except maybe that gives you all sorts of other benefits, doesnt tell you how to avoid it, and they say that for everything till the only thing you are allowed to do is watch TV.

Jokes on you, I'm a male nurse and they have been trying to get healthworkers vaccinated at the hospital I work at for free. I've never taken a flu shot and at most I have the flu one time a year. I'm never sick, just the yearly flu.

Heres why I dont trust doctor's.. first of all the majority of doctors only care about the money they don't honestly care about you. But when I was in high school I hurt my back trying to squat way to much weight (because I was trying to impress some girls) but years later the pain only got worse so I decided to visit a back doctor.. a few xrays and a few thousand dollars later he calls me in to tell me and I quote " well I'm sorry but there's nothing I can do for you but I'm going to send to to a specialist" even though he WAS a back doctor I was sent somewhere else so I go to the "specialist" and the story repeats, xrays, scans, tests and pulling money out of my ass then he proceeds to tells me the exact same the last doctor told me and that he was going to send me to another specialist so like a dumbass I go and guess what happened? Yup you guessed it xrays, scans, tests and another ass raping and that hes gonna send me to ANOTHER SPECIALIST.. so I calmly told the third doctor to fuck himself and have lived with the pain every since in my opinion it was a scam to get money from the patients and unfortunately I learned it the hard way

If you can still find an American doctor or one from a first world country, yes. Three of my four grandparents died under the care of Indian doctors. Though of course they were grandparents, and all between the ages of 75 and 82, each one had some element of incompetence or negligence on the part of the doctor.
