It's not that unbelievable. I mowed laws did just about any yard work asked for when I was a kid.
When I got into my early teens, I dug out a bike from the dump, gave her a nice paint job, saved up for a new chain, brake wires. neighbor noticed, asked if I could get his old bike going. That turned into me fixing up bikes for a profit. Got to the point where I would keep a stock on inner tubes and chain pin, people would just pull up into our drive way, and I'd stroll out like an a pro and be like alright what do we got.
It got alot of people out riding bikes, like all the kids did already but it got all the parents out riding too.
I wanna say this isn't like a back in the day story this was only the early thousands. But honestly I go back home, there still kids in the neighborhood, but you don't see kids riding bikes or exploring, me and my buddies will meet up every now and go check out the fort we build years ago, it's still there, but I'd doesn't look like the new kids have ever been there. This isn't exactly out of bounds, I was doing yard work for people in our neighbourhood as early as 10. I got money for school lunch but no allowance, so if I wanted sonething I had to work for it or starve myself for weeks. Taught me decent work values and what the alternative is.
