The problem is that if you 'miss' that first time the dog is going to be in a lot of fucking pain. Getting a family member who has experience with that sort of thing would most definitely help and save you the grief of doing it yourself.

You can get a guy who will do it at your house. That’s becoming quite common. You need to look on Craigslist or something. It’s not expensive, and it’s quiet and painless.

just do this, walk it outside, coax it with its favorite treats, give it its favorite toy, say some parting words and make sure you don't miss. the sedative thing probably won't work, you'll fuck up the dosage, miss the vein and cause it general distress. but seriously ffs bring it to a damn vet. even if it doesn't like going, the stuff they give dogs to put them down works in seconds, i only hope i can leave the world in that way

This is why I was asking. I've seen a lot of assholes putting their pets down, simply because they're 'too old' and just laying there sleeping all day or because their hind legs can't move anymore. IMHO this is not a valid reason and people who do this are scum. As long as an animal doesn't stop eating, it wants to live.

Then that is a digestive problem which could have been prevented if they took better care of the cat. The main problem with things like that is that humans essentially don't give a shit about animals and just keep them as emotional validation until they become a burden or rather 'don't work anymore' so they get rid of them.
