anime club experience in college?
Thinking of joining my schools anime club
Anime club
Make sure you know how the people in that club look, act and smell.
Do they have friends?
Do they have a social life other then that club?
Are there any grills?
Talk to someone who’s in the club.
Research before joining any club.
Thanks for the advice. Grills in the club will be at the top of my list when I do some research
Go visit. If it's cringe as fuck, don't come back. Simple as.
No, don't, they're always full of autist weebs who have no social lives. I'd be careful.
Sounds like good times
Thanks for the advice I’ll check it out I’m definitely not perfect but I would hate to get lumped in with that crowd
That’s what i hope for
As a anime fan, I HATE 95% of all other anime fans. They are generally the most annoying, autistic, immature, and creepy fuckers I've ever met. I still to this day don't understand why anime seems to attract these types of people like a moth to a flame. I have never belonged to an anime club, but if my experience at several anime cons was any indication, it sounds like hell.
The mere fact that an educational institution has such a club would be a warning sign to me. Especially not with that kind of poster. It just reeks of lard assed nerds with semen stained keyboards.
I’ve wondered that too but in general I think anyone who lets just one thing define them as a person could be pretty annoying to be around but some are worse than others
Lol I agree I found that picture on google though. they mentioned the club during our student orientation
100% agreed.
I'm in my mid 30s and I've enjoyed anime since childhood and still do occasionally, but I always despised these obsessed juveniles. About two years ago, in one of my last classes there was some Asian chick, about 12 years younger than me, who always wore black clothes and piercings and she was the biggest anime dork I've ever seen. When she found out I watched some ghibli movies, she became super obsessed with me and wanted my dick hardcore. That was probably the creepiest thing I've ever encountered in my life. Now I know how women must feel when some animu nerd eyes them.
>Thinking of joining my schools anime club
Do not, waste your time on a more meaningful club--something that will get you a job after graduation (hacking club, programming, etc).
I wouldn't get involved with other weebs today. Kids these days literally admit to watching anime with other people. The worst are those who use their smartphones to watch anime. Even worse they pay for streaming services. You got a lot to learn.
>volume's too damn high
>spends 20 minutes playing meme compilations from youtube
>i'm just here to watch the damn movie you advertised
>realized a bunch of spergs will probably spoil it throughout
>never go back
>Tfw no anime club because I live in a shithole
how can I end my life?
Lol start ur own and keep the spergs out
>"do you... want to do it? BAKA!"
>posted on a public flyer
Jeez, these people are autistic
i found it boring but they were so desperate for me to join (since i watch animes, go to cons, cosplay and collect figurines). Also i found it stupid how they would laugh at everything, even the stuff that isnt funny.
It's going to depend entirely on the club. The one at my university would book out a room in a modern multi-religion building, make the room dark and play anime on the projector. People would just sort of cosy up and watch. Some Japanese girls, some white girls, some quiet type guys of various races, one fat guy. I would go there occasionally when I felt like a break from project stress (it was more about the dark room and chat than anime to me).
You fucking zoomers have it so good.
>Also i found it stupid how they would laugh at everything
The one I tried going to was like this.
>watching an episode of gintama
>every time some "joke" would happen, room would erupt in laughter even though none of it was especially funny or original
Felt like they were trying a bit too hard. Also the club was pretty big so people only spoke to their already made friends, and nothing interesting would ever be shown, only battle shounen and whatever popular comedy anime was showing at the time.
kinda the same with my one except they would watch retro animes
That depends what you want. One time when i was teen, i actually liked to visit one online manga site which had huge amount of comments. It was funny to read both. I got break and later found out i don't really wanna see opinions of other teens and if i read something then because i like that work.
So if you like that culture, you think you wanna talk and share about that with someone and other stuff, then why not. At the end you probably won't be able to talk about cartoons with other people.
>did you lowkey give her the D?
Avoid like the plague, girlfriend and I joined one and it was a horrific experience. Even went with them to Comic-con and it left lasting impressions, I fucking hate anime and all those who watch it because of it.
Do yourself a favour and don't associate with people who watch anime.
There is a very good chance that club is populated by total fucking losers, but it could be fun to troll them until you get kicked out.
My personal experience with anime clubs has been terrible frankly. I went to two and both were filled with normal-fag posers. The first was filled with Crunchyroll "LOL SHREK IS AN ANIME SUCH A FUNNY MEME" types who'd play shitty anime Youtuber videos along with shows, and the second were filled with the pretentious types that scoffed at the label "otaku" and only watched dubs. I've thought about making my own club, but I don't have the money or resources for it. On the other hand, a friend of man ran an anime club during college and it went pretty well until he graduated and said club went to shit under new leadership. My advice is feel free to give anime clubs a shot, but most of them are shit and you're better off creating your own.
I joined an anime club once in my freshman year of college. It was okay at first, but it quickly deteriorated. They played AMV’s at the beginning of every meeting, 70% of the other members were fat as fuck, and the guy running the club was a fat magical girl fan who scoffed at “manimes”. They event that caused me to leave was when two of the fatsos started an argument that escalated quickly when one legitimately got triggered when the other told him to shut up.
>I still to this day don't understand why anime seems to attract these types of people like a moth to a flame.
It wasn't always like this. I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT STAND recent stuff coming from Japan; it's as if there's a secret university of cringe trying to build the ultimate weapon to replace nukes. They take amazing ideas and shit all over them with this. That's the heartbreaking part.
Monsterpeople would be a perfect starting point for a story, if there were a story. No there's just Jow Forums fantasies (and I normally snap at people who stereotype awkward lads) and constant over the top fanservice. Every female has a single digit IQ and the one male has an equivalent amount of perception.
(same poster continuing)
There's just more people like that these days. People who probably didn't have a dad in the home, or from a background with hard drugs, or just had way too much Ritalin and not a damn thing else during their childhood.
They're raised wrong. We had raised wrong back in the old days, but we also had other kinds of upbringing. Baby boomer parents were deficient but gen-X parents (of both Y and Z kids, not everyone procreates at twenty) are disturbingly alien in their ways.
Most fandoms are cancer. Anime have too many niches inside of it, so chances of finding like minded people are slim.
hmmmm
It's simple really, it gives em a sense of identity, unit, part of something bigger than themselves.
textbook victim of Kounibyou.
I'm the same way and let me tell you, it's worse than hell. At least cons have shit for you to look at, buy, and eat. Anime club has questionable weeb food with usually some show playing in the background with almost no one watching it since they just run around and act autistic as fuck. Rarely is discussion ever fun or interesting, it is embarrassment incarnate.
Also none of the girls are attractive. They're your fatty tumblr types with mental illness, dyed hair, and tattoos.
They're usually an extension of a college's Japanese language courses, but they use anime to entice people rather than calling it a Japanese Language Club.
I’d say dont do it bruh. I once tried out the board game club in uni bc loner and wanted to meet people with common interests/play games. Was a bunch of losers and autismos. Fat dudes and maybe 2 girls, 1 les 1 came with her bf.
Shouldn’t have gone at all. Locked eyes with a cute girl that smiled at me otw there but I thought, “meh forget about this random chance encounter. I’ll prob meet someone at the club”. Took a hard L that day :/
Anyways, anime club would only be worse. Buncha weaboo turbo RRREEEEE otakus. But if you’re still undeterred, do your thing.
Prepare to sing karaoke bro
Also known as just growing out of cringy shit
What if you show up on DUDE WEED. How would that be
