The results are not surprising. 90% of Mexican restaurants are family owned single store businesses. Hell, the best mexican food in my neighborhood is from a food truck serving the day laborers. Taco Bell is the only national chain (maybe Taco Cabana?) that anyone even recognizes. Mi Tierra is a top tier restaurant, but they only have one location: San Antonio. How would that place ever beat the McDonalds of Mexican food?

I'm not surprised. The best Mexican food, just like any other type of food is going to be at a local place. In LA my favorite Mexican Restaurant is Titos Tacos, in the Bay Area it was La Imperial, where I live now it's Beto's, you can't find these anywhere else. People taste from Houston will vote for the best Mexican restaurant in Houston. In Atlanta they vote for their local place etc. Meanwhile, trolls and idiots from all over the country vote for Taco Bell, they basically had no real competition if you voted from coast to coast.

Just like Pizza, Chicago people will vote deep dish, New Yorkers will vote for God tier. However, everyone will vote for their own local place except you'll get enough dipshits to vote Dominos that Dominos will win.
