Learning about Occultism

It seems to me that so many influential people throughout history have been into occultism that it would be negligent not to look into it, but it's a daunting topic for someone not too well-versed in religious matters. I want to learn about the progression of religions and some of the weirder shit you hear about (hermeticism, esotericism, gnosticism, ect) I've got some basic philosophical background but it's definitely shaky/elementary, so I feel a bit swamped when I don't know where to start and don't understand some of the terminology and concepts. What are some good books/thinkers to start with and what order should I read them in? Thanks for any help

It's really interesting stuff. Depending on your current mind it may take some adjusting and some time to digest.
This guy catapulted me into the stuff: youtu.be/dIEemKcy-4E

World is hollow and you're not allowed anywhere near the hole in Antarctica or the Arctic. You will be arrested and flown back and put into a psychedelic state by Jewish elites who don't want you to know you descend from Aryan alien giants who crashed into the hollow earth many years ago.

It definitely is, even myself as someone who's in a bit over their head it's always fascinating, but it leaves me puzzled frequently. I'll have a look at that video, thanks

Mark passio is great for an intro into a huge number of topics. Has solid knowledge of the occult and provides a lot of supplemetary reading in his podcast series whatonearthishappening.com/podcast?start=150

He'll also point you in the direction of other interesting people.

There are many books like /x/'s omg booklist and you can google suggestions people have for an order of reading, but it's a personal journey. You're learning how you work. Through that you are learning how the universe works. As below, so above; as above, so below.

I thought Crowley's "The Book of The Law" was gibberish until I reread it recently. It all made sense as though I had learned a new language.

Jungs Red book is a good start op.

It is true. Right-wing beliefs are more compatible with the right-hand path though, if you want to see what happens when right-wingers follow the left-hand path look no further than Atomwaffen faggotry.
I used to consider occultism absolute retardation until I realized how many people who accomplished things in history believed in this shit, how many scientists include these things in their original works, and how deep literature about the topic goes.
Read Jung, Nietzsche, Evola, Guenon, read Pound, Devi and Miguel Serrano then go back to Evola's Doctrine of Awakening, Yoga Sutras with the commentary of Swami Satchitananda,
Working Toward Enlightenment, To Realize Enlightenment, Tao and Longevity, The Sixth Patriarch's Platform Sutra.

/x/ tho

Most of what we consider occultism was a part of natural science in the middle ages, monks would devote sections to books that would be thought of as occult in their libraries. There was a process over hundreds of years that differentiated the occult from modern science.

We have evidence of monks using image, astrology and alchemical recipes in Canterbury for example.

occult knowledge is just natural sciences that we were tricked into thinking weren't important/real enough to pay attention to.

True. Also many doctors and scientists included "occult" research in the works we base our modern science on, but the occult parts are ignored.

What the fuck is occultism even about?

I really don't get it. Does it help understanding human nature or something?

I’ll be real with you chief. You’re smart to want to know about the progression of religions et al. but if you’re expecting to actually end up learning how to do Harry Potter Hollywood stuff, you’re going to be disappointed.
What we know as “occultism” is just philosophy, but not so mainstream so as to kept from being corrupted so easily.
I know you said you know a lot of the basics, but check these out:

The goal is reaching enlightenment, expanding human consciousnesses. The word "occult" literally means "hidden", everything considered "hidden knowledge" is occult.

Check out Manly P Hall, he sums it all up quite well

Thanks for the book list.

Agreed.

Occultism is mainly a mix of natural sciences like alchemy and meditation techniques like Tarot.

Demiurge Pull is best pill

Like it has already been said, i advise you read Manly P. Halls "The Secret Teachings of all Ages", its a great round up of what has and is happening on that side of history.

As for further reading depends a lot in what you prefer and want to jump into. Since it has way to many branches, I`m actually going thru Crowley works and all the myths of Thelema. But again its your choice thru where you want to enter this world. I think P. Hall is a good choice for you, he was very knowledgeable on the occult in general.

here is a thread where i go into the (((elites))) symbolism and explain the believes behind it

more or less this

TL;DR
We live in a cosmic prison in which an automation called the Demiurge creates reality out of the pure will of self observation of the literal concept of thought.

>prison
think of it more as a containment reality, a sandbox or tutorial where we can learn and experience without fucking up cosmically.
We ate the fruit of knowledge of good and evil, thus are meant to learn of this. We knew of good from God already, but not evil, and best way to learn is through experience. We cant experience evil in eden thus had leave, and now experience evil that we may learn from it and comprehend it so that in the end we may decide for good over evil fully aware of what these actually are.

Simultaniously Satan tries to show God how lowly we are, thus he plagues us with every plague he has that we may fall from faith. However since God knows and trusts us he lets this happen, we have to learn of evil either way, and this way might as well teach Satan a lesson, make him see how after everything he could do we will still glorify Gods name and showing Satan he was wrong about us the entire time making even him turn around in the end possibly

>9The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance
Is Satan included in "everyone"? I think so.

You dont find it, it finds you. The reason why is that it has been shrouded so much in traps and dangerous lies that it will distract/discourage you.
Just look at your average xstain. Clueless and afraid.

There is a awesome youtuber that goes deeeeeeep on that stuff.

Look into the Kaballah, and the Behavioural Sink, and look for Yuri Bezmenov for macro weaponized occultism.

There you go.

They are shilling hard against the gnostics

wel, many gnostics seem to be retarded, thinking biblical God is the demiurge instead of realizing the Demiurge is pretty much exactly what biblical Satan is
