They were the first slaves (Slavs, hence the origin of the name Slave) and have been the least participated group in terms of slavery. At the height of American slavery, less than 2% of whites owned slaved. Hell, even the first American slave owner was a black man.

As for your point on whites, slavery is a great injustice regardless of where it happens but when discussing white privilege in the US I don't think it's particularly relevant what happened in the muslim world. But what about the south? The area where slavery was actually legal. And dividing the total free population of the south with the number of owners is still dishonest because you can benefit from a slave without directly owning one, specifically by having one in your household.
