When I lived on campus, I’d pay about $1500 to pay the difference between full aid acceptance and tuition, which my tax return covered for the education credit, instant $1,000, plus fed income refund. I went to UH, left with hardly any debt, graduated a few years ago in accounting

University education should be free and funded by the taxpayer. Hell, I'd go one step further and say people should actually be paid to attend univesity. However, this comes with the cavaeats that it should be far more competitive ith less than 10% of the current attendees being able to get a place, and with courses requiring 40 hours per week work instead of just being an excuse to drink and fuck all the time.

I don't know what the situation is like elsewhere, but here in the UK university is a huge fucking scam where we pay through the roof for a sub-par product. University strategy is to get as many chinks through the door as possible (as they pay even higher fees), and to deliver as few hours as possible in terms of teaching (to reduce staff costs). It's a huge fucking ponzi scheme mess, but we all have to do it if we want any sort of non-trade job.

I worked as a collector of government guaranteed student loans for nearly 5 years. Once I figured out how the scam worked after moving around to a few departments, I quit. It is bad my friend. Really bad, and it is broken on every front. The colleges are shit, the quality of graduates is shit, and the system to allow students to attend without paying a cent is shit. I found a trade school that paid for my education because of everything I know. I would rather be a dumb construction worker with 10 finger than a retarded ass college "graduate" who doesn't know shit about how the world really works.

there's a simple solution to the 'if everyone can get a degree than it's worthless' argument', and that's to make the entrance requirements harder, and also the courses harder. That way you still have to work your ass off, not to pay for it, but to complete the degree.

First year would be a shit test, where maybe 90% would fail out. That's fine, no harm lost to them, they can go do something else. Of course there will still be worthless arts degrees. but since they're free and worth nothing, nobody will bother with them. As it is, you need to pay for them so they're still seen as better than nothing. But if they're free and easy to complete, they will be rendered completely useless

This way, having a non meme degree means you worked hard for it, not that you paid thousands of dollars. With no student loan debt, the economy will improve. More money to spend = better economy

Because of that, university education has become subjected to the same problems IQ tests had in the past, i.e. niggers don't do very well.
So universities moved into the diversity racket, which turns out to cost a lot of money.
The government said, "let there be loans," which only served to increase what universities could charge, and therefore made more money available for diversity bullshit.
Now you need a BA to be a night-shift manager at a 7-11, universities are flush with cash, and the middle class is laboring under the weight of a trillion dollars of load debt.

The simple answer is to allow student loans to be included in bankruptcy filings. Overnight, the loan companies will discover how much less interest they're interested in charging and renegotiating their loan deals with borrowers.
This is so fucking simple, which is why you should be suspicious that it hasn't been implemented yet.

College in the USA hasn't been that way for a long time. The problems started when schools ramped up bringing in state funding. It is nothing more than a profit making venture that just happens to have a football program for further income. Degrees are worthless from most schools. Nor here, unfortunately. I don't know how things are like at Oxbridge, but I went to two other top 10 universities (for BSc and MSc) and the quality of the course and teaching were complete shit. I'm now at a shit university (not in top 50) doing a PhD, and it's a complete joke. I would have dropped out long ago, but it's funded approx twice the normal PhD stipend, so I'm just putting up with it and saving up the money. Feel like an academic fraud though. A serious system would see me doing 40 hours per week since I started my BSc, with proper supervision throughout (instead of lecture halls filled with 250 students, and once per team meetings with a director of studies). I'd be 50 times the academic I am now if that were in place

I worked full time at a job that paid 8k a year for my tuition, while making a decent income. I'm about to graduate with my MBA now and I've taken out under 10k in loans between undergrad and graduate school. It'll all be paid off before I graduate anyway.
