- Reasonably good medical care. OK, now you have better tech. But if you get cancer, you get pumped full of poison and live another 3-5 years. Joy.
- Want to communicate? A telegraph is enough to run a business on several continents. Telephones also starting to become commonplace.
- Want to go somewhere? Still pretty quick and safe (trains, steamships, rudimentary cars). Not as fast as transcontinental airlines, but pretty quick and comfy.
- Passports and visas and endless red tape to go somewhere? Ha, as a white man go just about anywhere on your name alone.
- In the US at least, personal freedom out the ass.
- And land is cheap, labor expensive (vs. the obverse nowadays).
- None of this "my pussy hurts, I'm sorry for all of the man's sins" BS. Manifest Destiny baby.
