The President and the Congress have the powers to set Fiscal Policy (government spending) and The Fed- our central bank- has the power to set our Monetary Policy (money supply). Each tool has different effects- but control is essential to understanding their proper use. If the central bank disagrees with the President on how to set Monetary Policy- they are capable of acting independently of his control. Ideally- the central bank and the President would work together to agree on the best mix of Monetary and Fiscal Policy to use to ensure the prosperity of our nation.
