We have/had work for welfare programs here. People get a fucking pittance on welfare, what we call "social aid" directly translated. That amount varies a bit between municipalities etc, but it's easily less than a fourth of what legally set minimum wage is.
Now those idiots getting thrown on those programs would work full hours and get maybe a fifth more in aid every month. That's a long fucking way from the minimum wage set down by law.
Also, the people who tend to profit from this are friends and acquaintances of the politicians who put it in. It's like the fucking prison industry, for welfare clients.

these programs cost money and you get very little in return, yeah shaniqua will pick up a little trash and juan will shovel a little dirt but it never brings in any revenue and you need to pay people to supervise and oversee the whole thing, it just tacks on local expenses to the federal welfare bill, even more of a boondoggle. My town just quit requiring work for foodstamps because it cost a shit ton of local money to run the program and it hadn't accomplished a fucking thing, if people won't work for a real job they sure as fuck won't work for a not real job

I went on welfare after winding up in LA after Katrina. They made me show up to some random Medicaid building to literally punch holes six hours a week to get my benefits. Idk if it was because I'm white or what. They also made me prove I was looking for a job twice a week and when I finally got one they curtailed my cash every month to like just food stamps.

Well, here you get rent covered, then a lump sum of money that's to supposed to last you for 14 days. For that lump sum of money you can afford food and maybe tobacco. Every 6 months you can get a tiny lump sum to buy clothes if you've been on welfare long enough. That sum might cover a pair of somewhat decent pants and some t-shirts.

I embraced niggerhood for 6 months after getting laid off a few years ago. I always heard about unemployment but it was surreal getting paid a portion of my salary because I was cut from my employer. I bought a couple ounces of weed and smoked myself stupid and played Vidya for that period. And on top of that my wife was pregnant at the time and got on Medicaid and we had our kid for free. Like, I didn't need this kind of help and just milked it because it was there. If I was forced to do some kind of mandated labor I'd have gotten my ass a comfy job like I had before and been back to paying taxes like a good goy.

Drug testing is expensive and barely works. Marijuana stays in your system the longest and if your not a fat pothead who smokes every day you can easily clean out in 2-3 weeks, cocaine can be out in 48-72 hours. To be truly effective it would have to be weekly or random and good luck getting welfare recipients tote show up somewhere on time. The cheap home tests are very easily defeated and have some problems with admissibility in court. Lab tests are prohibitively expensive and are not feasible on a large scale.
