I'm actually trying to be realistic. Realistically it's almost impossible to stop people from moving if there is enough incentive to move due to economics, safety, crime, etc. Individual people will always try to strive for happiness and better life.
The only two possible solutions are either removing incentive or embracing that migration.

To remove incentive there are two solutions too — either making life in the better place so shitty and miserable that migration won't make a difference or making life better at the source of migration.

Making life in the US miserable is obviously not a viable option for various reasons.
Making life better at the sources of migration will have to involve regime changes, wars, a lot of meddling, foreign aid, bribery, vast free trade agreements, etc. That's not very popular this days. And this solution could backfire sometimes.

When you make legal immigration harder it just encourages illegal immigration anyway. Embracing legal migration at least allows to properly vet people and integrate them legally.

I spoke to an American recently about Trump as they said everyone outside the US hates him, I disagreed.
I asked why they don't like him and they said he is racist.
I asked why they thought he was a racist and the actual answer was "Because after Charlottesville he said there are good people and bad people on both sides"
Therefore, in their logic, everyone on the right at Charlottesville was a white supremacist and Trump was saying white supremacists are good people.

There are billionaires in the Democratic party too. They are from modern industries (Internet, media, etc). Because they are more modern and are closer to consumers and data they see the writing on the wall. They won't be able to protect their wealth if the country doesn't re-balance wealth a bit. Liberal rules-based US-centric global world order is not news. It's a thing that was conceived after the WW2 with the Bretton-Woods agreement, creation of the UN, NATO, OECD, and all those things.
Basically a lot of smart and quite elite people have seen atrocities of two world wars, nationalism/nazism/fascism in Europe, Japan, and communism in China and Russia, and they decided to create the system that will help to save humanity from destroying itself. It worked to an extent.

The problem in the third world is not brain drain. It's bad governance. Changing that governance is quite hard without some blood. It didn't quite work in Iraq for example, society was just too damaged by bad governance.

And don't underestimate human ingenuity. We could learn to use the resources of the planet better and re-purpose ocean as living space for example.
