I heard some Slavs say they Choose Canada since it has a more socialist/Communist system(Universal Healthcare, Generous Welfare etc.). In their eyes, Canada is "Communism done right" or something like that. America is seen as a cold bloodthirsty capitalist place where people would leave you to starve in the street if you don't have enough money. Canada is seen as warmer and more welcoming. fpbp, America would rather import pajeets or mexicans for the assortment of professions/jobs that need filling(those offer the high and low end of the labour chain). Canada picks and chooses smaller groups more than america where chain migration makes sense to import huge spic and pajeet families in their 10s while Canada imports individual families(average size around 4 persons) and whites fit this bill easier.

Most of this immigration took place at the turn of the century, when we were running from our Hungarian overlords. Idea was to go to America, work your ass off for twenty years and come back and buy a bunch of land. Worked, except the commies took all the land a few years later. A lot of people stayed in America and Canada or quickly emigrated after the war. I still have distant family in Canada. Slavs don't care, we assimilate.

1. Easier to get citizenship than in US. There were few countries like Canada, New-Zealand and some other, which I can't recall now. They were very easy to get to, especialy if you have good education, which is free in Russia.
2. Canada has big diaspora of ukrainians. Because of many nazi-henchmen (UPA/OUN) from Ukrainian SSR, who ran there to escape responsibility for their crimes. US and Canada were very tolerant to killers of USSR citizens. Wife of ex-president of Ukraine (Yushenko) is a descendant of those fuckers.
3. Climate. Moderate comparing to ours.
4. More social security than in US. Less crimes, less ethno-crimes and so on.

My parents flocked Poland in the 1980's to escape communism. We are now thinking of going back. I can tell you this: Nobody from Poland is flocking to Canada as of 2019.
