The problem with Venezuelan oil is that the acid levels in it make it subpar to middle east oil (not sure if it affect quiality, or forces you to treat it first.) so it is cheaper in the global market.
Since oil prices sunk already, venezuelan oil is stupidly cheap and there is not enough demand to drive it higher again. So the goverment cant use it as a proper lifeline.

In the end, the people are starving for food, and the goberment starving for money.

Anyone willing to invest in venezuela, either by buying oil in exchange for rights to it, or by invading (either trough rebels promising rights) or an expensive invasion, will end up with a lot of low value oil. So it will take a long time to reap any benefit.

When Maduro lost the last legislative elections he took all the powers away from the national assembly, the legislative, and started fucking with STJ, the judiciary, again. He created a constituent assembly to change his own Constitution even more and then had the most blatantly rigged election ever
The original STJ left the country.
When Maduro's new term started neither the National Assembly (henceforth AN) nor most countries in the Americas, Europe, Japan etc recognized his new term as legitimate.
The STJ in exile officially didn't recognize it either, and following the Venezuelan Constitution, with the presidency vacant, the National Assembly declares it's president Juan Gauido to be the interim president of Venezuela, and he'll call a new election within 30 days of taking office (officially today).

So you have Juan Guaidó as transitional president, recognized by the National Assembly and STJ in exile, by the Lima Group, OEA, the USA and most European countries, as well as Japan and the like on one side, and Maduro as the incumbent president recognized by his own party in the Constituent Assembly, the STJ he appointed in Venezuela and who literally lives in a military base and Cuba and Rússia and the other bolivarian countries of the Americas (Bolivia, Nicaragua, etc), as well as countries irrelevant in this scenario like Turkey, Iran and South Africa.
