Instead of holding cash or trying to buy stock and deal with banks as a non-citizen- you could just buy a ton of bricks for future wall building. It might not seem like an investment but if you knew that the cost of bricks was going to go up- then those bricks could save you a lot of money. Finally, if you don't have room for a ton of bricks- you could just invest in commodities and that's pretty much the same thing.
