I was tested at 135 in highschool (had iq and behavioral testing after committing assault). I had a twin brother, smarter than me, who was clinically depressed. At that age, I became aware of the connection to high iq and depression, and I understood it. I recognized then that I lived in a separate world and it was impossible to explain my feelings to the majority of peers as they simply could not understand. There is a way out. I was taught it in school and was fortunate to recognize it for what it was early. Drugs and alcohol. A decade later, I've probably knocked 20 points off my iq. I'm a skilled tradesman. I am happy, and live in the day to day, instead of overthinking about the future and societal ills. My brother makes twice as much as me (I'm good at what I do) and lives in silicon valley. He still struggles with depression.

Honestly I think it would normally work out that way, but our culture is alienating because the elite isn't just the high IQ individuals of the same group. The elite is the high IQ individuals of another group entirely. The majority of the high IQ folks in a modern society are going to be unhappy because they are displaced and alienated intentionally. People with lower IQs take more drugs, smoke and drink more, they're more obese and earn less.

The only instance where I can think of higher IQ being related to mental illness is with autism, specifically high functioning autism, these individuals feel more depressed. Perhaps because theyre smart enough to realise their tardation. Whereas low functioning autismos are less depressed but, they have other mental health issues, mainly anxiety.

Take IQ with a grain of salt though, intelligence should be measured with spearman's G, it's slightly less vague than IQ

I think I'm autistic though, I've read a bunch of books on body language and speech so I think I have that part nailed down but I have difficulty conversing with the average person because they seem to be incredibly low-information in terms of worldview.

I try to ask questions expecting interesting answers and I'll always get something like "I've never thought about that" or "I don't know anything about that subject", and then the person either wants to get out of the conversation because they feel I'm too challenging and they disengage.

I've always seen the system as inherently evil due to fractional reserve banking/lending and try to stay moral by not taking on debt or using credit lines because of how opposed I am.
