Basically, there is no logically consistent argument for or against political/economic policies and results in South America without first examining just how much the United States Government has fucked up their political process at the behest of capitalist Corporations.

This whole situation is very similar if not even more blatant rehash of the 2006 Honduras coup. The conservative court and military booted Manuel Zelaya and the coup was recognized in no time by the Obama admistration. The reforms Zelaya sought to address were discarded and now thousands of refugees are trying to escape the nightmare the US had a hand in. Meanwhile the Honduran government is proposing “free trade zones” in some cities. The banana republic model is alive and well.
So many Americans complain about Russian meddling in an election, but lack the self awareness to notice that they’re advocating the overthrow of a democratically elected government.

How is it any different? Russia has been invited to place military assets in Venezuela and has been providing aid to Venezuela. It is for all intents and purposes an arm of Russia in the same way Cuba and Syria are. There's not necessarily anything wrong with that, but that's the way it is.
