How long COULD you continue to show up to work without getting paid.
Most people live paycheck to paycheck with just a few thousand in savings at most...especially if they have children.
I know that the Federal employees will get back pay when the shutdown ends, but how many of you could survive 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 months without a paycheck? How many of you would still show up to work after 3 months without a paycheck.
I am in a private sector job in aviation. The only reason that my life and job have not been effected by the shutdown is the fact that the Federal workers continue to show up without getting paid.
Once they stop showing up, if this goes on long enough, the entire sector of the economy will be fucked with substantial ripple effects everywhere.
It isn't just the TSA, but let's look at them for a moment. These are not the highest paying government jobs. Most of them will be living paycheck to paycheck. There are simply not enough higher paid supervisors to keep security and screening running at airports if the bulk of employees quit or sick out.
Places like JFK, ORD, and ATL would be chaotic messes with interminable security lines. It would be constant flight delays and cancellations.
The TSA would be very smart to "sick out" in Atlanta during the next Superbowl. I don't know if they will, but it would be a really smart move. It would ruffle so many feathers that the government would be open in a week.
It isn't just TSA. More importantly is air traffic control who are also working for free right now. Their income is higher so they can probably last longer without getting paid...but how long?
I actually support keeping the government shutdown until we have a secure border even if I suffer economically. Chances are, however, that I will not lose my job as a result of this shutdown so being a hardliner is much easier for me. I also believe that the government is a bloated monster with too many departments, agencies, and employees, but some of those jobs are actually important and essential.
I am just trying to propose that the debate about this government shutdown is typically too simplistic. People call the government worker a "welfare leech" and don't consider the potential systemic ramifications. We are talking about entire sectors of the economy...billions of dollars in losses, incalculable ripple effects in every sector that transportation touches.
People also glibly state "they are going to get paid eventually, they need to stop bitching". That is why I asked first how long you personally would or could continue to show up to work, whatever it is that you do, without getting paid.
Just food for thought to promote a more substantive debate on the matter.
Who cares Dems could fix this mess in an hour but they won't because they want to protect illegal entry, illegal drug smuggling and human trafficking which they profit off of. also Trump should just lay off all the workers using RIF and then they could collect unemployment and Dems would lose that bargaining chip. also it would allow for all the shit employees to be forced to go through rehiring procedures and would get rid of some of the worst ones when firing or letting them go normally is almost impossible
Oliver Wood
here is a tip i was taught as a child. always save at least 30% of each paycheck. im 25 and i have a paid off truck, i boughta fixer upper house when i graduated high school and spent 2 years fixing it up, no debt and 75k in the bank.
my monthly expenses are 1100 dollars but I could probably shink it down to 900 need be. so if i lost my job I would be able to survive 83 months basically 7 years.
>but i need a new phone every year >but i need the new cuckbook air 28 >but i need a new car every 4 years >but i need garbage that ill never use >but i rent because im a good goy
Connor Williams
Thank you for your input. You have obviously given this deeper thought than most. However, it could also be said that all Trump has to do is stop demanding the steel barrier and the shutdown could be over. I think that this is a fruitless three. Both sides are entrenched at this point. I am entrenched on Trump's side of the border security issue.
We still have to be realistic and soberly assess the long term ramifications of this shutdown should it continue for a really extended period.
Jeremiah Torres
Jow Forums a serious problem we have here is that we can't seem to figure out who's white. If we're gonna get serious about saving this race, it's time we cope with the fact that 95% of Albanians are more Turk than European. This is a simple biological fact; just like how Greeks are superior and niggers are inferior
I think when the race war actually starts, most bosniaks and albanians would rather fight with their islamic-arabian brothers than other Europeans. Just warning you
What do you think, White man? Would you really want THIS in your ethnostate????

being most federal employees are paid three times of their worth and get full benefits they're not walking away from these jobs pay attention to that how long would you go without getting a paycheck and not walk away from your job that's why they're so hard to get that's why it's filled with so many people that do nothing. High pay, no accountability. They're not leaving. What and have to Work?
Read the book "who moved my cheese". And it all makes perfect sense.
Ethan Myers
wrong thread, friend
Brayden Diaz
Who cares. Learn to drive.
Alexander Cooper
Fuck the TSA, all of them are worthless and deserve to be out of a job. Every federal employee that isnt getting paid right now should be working for a private company doing the same thing. USDA meat inspectors should be working for a private certification agency, airlines should be responsible for their own security. Not a single federal worker currently working without pay should technically even have a job under the US Constitution. Other than the Military, congress, and maybe some DOT, everything else is government overreach and should be abolished.
Eli Gray
I would have walked by now. There are literally THOUSANDS of manufacturing jobs and trade jobs that pay $17+ an hour with full benefits that dont rely on congress to cut paychecks.
Henry Mitchell
quit bitching, you've already made more suckling the government's titties than most of us. get a job as a cashier for a month or something if it's so bad (you won't)
William Reed
true but I'd also be game if Trump gave all DACA's a permanent residency and path to citizenship barring any criminals and with deportation if they commit certain crimes. either way though it's going to heat up soon as we've passed the threshold where they had to give February food stamps early in order to give the full benefit and there's only enough money left for 60% of benefits for March. Not to mention section 8 and public housing benefits running out as well. Soon there will be very real street level pain and we'll see how that goes if it lasts another month or so. to me it seems Dems backed themselves into a corner with the 'no wall' at all meme and they'll have to die on that hill at this point
Colton Lopez
lol and most Fed gov jobs pay double that with insane retirement and health care benefits and dental
Jayden Rogers
You might be correct that they would all be private sector jobs. We, unfortunately, have to deal with reality as it is, not as we want it to be. These are currently government jobs and if they stop showing up there are going to be widespread ramifications that will end up effecting everyone in small and large ways.
Asher Brooks
>Most people live paycheck to paycheck wit Sounds like most people need to learn basic financial management skills
Lucas Wood
I don't work for the government.
Dylan Baker

Nathan Anderson
Its affecting my family, my mother in law works for the USDA as an in house inspector at a meat plant and she is hurting pretty bad. She threw a nice Christmas for the family and now has to work going on missed paycheck #2. It would be nice to see these job privatized to remove the bloat the inevitably comes with the FED, and lower the tax bill. It would also ensure that when DC niggers up the entire government, people will still have paying jobs.
Julian White
wrong it is easy as fuck
Austin Fisher
When your lowest tax bracket is the same as our highest, it probably is impossible
Lucas Wright
Not anymore Most are inthe 40 to80k range The super jobs never fill, check the backlog on usajobs

>it's going to heat up soon that is the truth
I get the sense that most people seem to believe that because the shutdown has not profoundly effected them (or effected them at all) after one month that it will never impact their lives. This is patently false. For better or worse Washington DC is enmeshed in our entire economy. The longer this shutdown goes on, more and more people will feel the pain, many of whom thought that they were imminent to the ramifications of a long term shutdown.
Elijah Baker
TSA is unconstitutional, should be shut down and removed anyway.
Jeremiah Torres
>You might be correct that they would all be private sector jobs... *You might be correct that they SHOULD all be private sector jobs...

I don't mind some sort of security in airports, but giving a bunch of minimum wage nig nogs a badge and sense or authority is not the way to do it.
Benjamin Lee
They care so much about looking like “the good guys” but they don’t seem to realize that supporting the wall is the good option
Jacob Clark
I mean the big pain was voidedwhen Trump illegally ordered the snap payout The real fun is next week when atcs start the blueout
I still love how noone explains why tough on border means not paying border patrol and cancelling all immigration trials with release
Brayden Gray
30% I am guessing that you have no children.
Luis Carter
No one cares about .gov employees. Let them work for free until they end up homeless and then we can just pretend they dont exist like all the other homeless people. I don't see the problem here.
David Clark
>many of whom thought that they were imminent to the ramifications of a long term shutdown.
*many of whom thought that they were IMMUNE to the ramifications of a long term shutdown.
Christopher Sullivan
They shouldn't even get backpay. Fuck them. Unless you're on benefits or a federal employee you probably wouldn't even notice the shutdown, so keep it shut down.
Jackson Cruz
Whoever caves first will lose 2020. This shutdown will last until 2020 election. Be prepared for riots, bigger than ever before.
Cooper Price
So then why are they required to work then?
Joshua Roberts
fuck you it's easy to save even as high as 50%. Some people in the early retirement community are saving 90%. It's you who are spending like a nigger and need to stop.
Jordan Jackson
We had security at airports before TSA. TSA was created to buy Michael Chertoff's backscatter radiation machines and brainwash people into being processed like prisoners. The only difference between flying and going to jail is you dont have spread your ads cheeks, but in jail the cops don't touch you. Hard to say which is better.
Cooper Turner
>How long COULD you continue to show up to work without getting paid. forever

Yeah its easy, just live 3rd world and you can suffer in meager senility
Ayden Watson
I'll bite
How is it that you could continue to show up to work without getting paid forever?
Cameron Campbell
Hmmm, I travel a lot, and I thought the TSA agents were look more light skin color. I wonder if anyone will ever do a race ethnicity study of who walked out during shutdown?
Henry Reed
TSA is a government mandated single point of failure in aviation safety. Private companies could do the same task at least as well as TSA does, while actually caring about efficiency and customer service because they don't want to lose the contract to a competing firm next time up. If the government wants to impose some standards, they can enforce that with undercover spot inspections (which they already do to front line TSA workers anyway). This current bullshit is all unnecessary.
Sebastian Thompson
Naw the food riots will start next month. Southern California. Even spice niggers will want the wall after that.
Charles Cruz
>We had security at airports before TSA
Not saying that the TSA is great, but the private security before 9/11 was not doing a fantastic job.
Luis Garcia
They wouldn't keep showing up if they didn't think it was worth it. Unsustainable pensions picked up by the taxpayer, impossible to be fired... everyone makes their own decisions. Companies lay off tens of thousands of people all the time. If they want to ditch their job and seek employment that adds value to the economy, that's their own free will.... unless they're enlisted or commissioned.
Oliver Hall
Your job in aviation is only threatened because of TSA agents not being paibbbecause of federal law demanding TSA agents. Change the law.
Joseph Campbell
You cant leave a gov job without opm processing Opm is shutdown Failure to show is now a crime as you have been conscripted
Juan Russell
>They wouldn't keep showing up if they didn't think it was worth it.
Yes, it remains to be seen how long they can or will hold out though. I don't think the typical employee can go for more than two months. Even if they want to keep the job for future benefits, they simply won't be able to continue to show up without pay.
Landon Fisher
>how many of you could survive 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 months without a paycheck?
I could. It's called future time orientation. Perhaps don't be a fucking nigger and blow your paycheck on Newports and weed and save or invest instead? If you're an adult and haven't planned to be able to survive half a year if some emergency happens you have utterly failed at life.
Furthermore, if you are dependent on the state/taxpayer for your livlhood go fuck yourself. Get a real fucking job that you don't have to force people at gunpoint to pay you to do or be grateful that the rest of us actually work for a living so you can have your gravy train.
The fact that all you fuckwits are parasites on us is bad enough but what's infuriating is that you all have to act like entitled ingrates.
Levi Anderson
Just saying this.... The TSA and ATC is full of Union employees who support the democrats. Them calling in sick is an old Union tactic to stop work. It is in their best interest to make it as uncomfortable as possible to get what they want.
Bentley Bailey
>average home price 236k euro so a starter home should be 175k or less >125K mortgage plus property tax and insurance should be 600-800 euros
i dont know about your prices but my budget is $150 cable internet $400 food $200 car insurance $250 gasoline $250 elect h20 gas
so ill just pretend euros and dollars are equal 1,250 euros plus 800 euro mortgage roughly 2,100 euros pre savings 3,000 euros per month 36,000 per year if you include 30% savings not including income tax
in murica 36k after taxes is about 44k gross or roughly $22/hour
obviously i spend a shitload on gas and car insurances because i have a motorcycle and a truck, you dont need cable and you can spend less on food. also you can buy a cheaper house and fix it up as you go. i make 60k per year and i bought my house for 50k and its now appraised at 150k since ive fixed it up
Austin Smith
They should stop No pay no work Do you beleive jew tactics of Ill pay you later?
Nolan Wilson
There are plenty of other job available, stop being a parasite.
Robert Wright
Or maybe they should let Glumpf build the fucking wall.
Jayden Jones
I don't disagree. But taking sick time is a cheap way to get paid without working.
William Rogers
He should keep it shut until they all quit. Imagine the budget after that Fed fags BTFO
Eli Wood
wow. whoa. powerful.
I remember when private sector faced massive furloughs in 2008/2009. Except no one got 'back pay' and credit agencies didn't offer help for those people.
fuck the public sector, they're already paid enough.
Brody Mitchell
Sick time is in the contract Several trillion larger due to training and rebuild Laws dont change
Sebastian Reed
is that true? I would expect federal agents, officers, and the military to not be able to walk out, but if sumone in IT for the Department of Agriculture goes a month without pay, there's seriously an internal control preventing him from doing so?
Liam Morgan
Yep I know direct a dude that retiredbut his paperwork isnt stamped He wont even get pay
Jacob Evans
1. I don't work for the government 2. you are better and more responsible than every government employee and most people in the private sector. Woohoo, fantastic.
The fact that you are fiscally responsible will not change the fact that most people cannot last for more than 3 months with no paycheck.
You can wag your finger and "coulda, woulda, shoulda" all day long at people who can't or won't budget well, but it does not change reality as it is.
Reality as it is is that they can't go indefinitely without a paycheck and that this shutdown will eventually impact the lives of most people in small and large ways.
Lincoln Jones
>tfw been working throughout the shutdown >tfw most coworkers in same agency are furloughed >tfw they’ll be getting a paid vacation while I did their jobs If I don’t get some kind of recognition for this I’m looking for a job elsewhere
>How long COULD you continue to show up to work without getting paid ask the jannies my man
Brody Cruz
i dont because im only 25 and not married but the only added cost with a kid is food and clothes, and my wife can work because as much as id like a stay at home wife id rather have her work and use all of her money on private schools, and college funds
my savings account makes a measly 1.5% a year which basically doesnt cover inflation but its better than nothing
Samuel Clark
if you're not always looking for a better job, i think you're doing it wrong.
Brandon Powell
a government employee doesn't have a choice. they couldn't get a job in the real economy.
Joshua Edwards
dont be a dumb fuck and work for a partisan shit show stop supporting this stupid fucking socialist jobs program for mouth breathing reatards, its only helping shit skin numbers and egos inflate
Brody Cooper
None of this makes any sense >no degree >homeowner >makes well above average money
Explain
Carson Phillips
I could survive 2 years without dipping into selling my physical wealth (gold, silver, ammunition and firearms, my car, other collections that have value)
t. poorfag @ 35k/year
Anyone who can't survive a few months cut off is simply a fucking retarded good goy consumer.
Adrian Sanchez
I would quit and get a new job which is what these lazy fucks should do except they won't because they don't want real jobs they want "jobs" where you get paid big bucks for doing literally nothing.
Levi Taylor
democrats voted for the draconian bullshit that led to tsa and its idiot staff, dont fucking care that some asshole's airport security experience was slightly inconvenient. boo fucking hoo
Blake Powell
Life will go on without the TSA lel
Aaron Parker
Fuck every single dumb bitch that does not have enough saved to be able to live for at least a YEAR if they do not get a paycheck. fucking niggers I tell ya! Most of these fuckers make over 100k and they bitch about having they pay delayed??
Government worker here, I'm 30, and loving this vacation. Still have $40k in the bank and $20k in credit if needed. Most of my co workers are already out of money though, even the guys who are 55+... Fucking idiots. Hopefully they all take different jobs and I become the head of my department. Shut the government down until AFTER the wall's built for all I care.
Dylan Rivera
They are actually gaurenteed in federal law to receive the wage. Simply walk into a federal credit union and they will loan you the money against your future payments at zero interest. Paid vacation in that sense.
Tyler Harris
This is not how the real world works. You should not “always” be looking for a better job. Unless you like moving laterally, between companies, you’ll never create enough rapport within a company (and very likely not develop a sufficient skill set) to move upwards. I could have gone between companies and get a dollar raise, maybe even a couple times or just stay here and get my promotion with better benefits and salary rate.
Jonathan Myers
>How long COULD you continue to show up to work without getting paid. Indefinitely if my wife continued to work. Eight months of no lifestyle change of we both lost our jobs. Probably five years if I liquidated everything (house, 401ks, unnecessary possessions, etc)
Tyler Gomez
This. These federal fucks make boat loads and then can't survive one month with a paycheck?
most of these airtraffic controllers make $200k+ total compensation living in the middle of nowhere and somehow can't go one month without their federal paycheck? If they are that irresponsible I don't think they should be ATC anyway.
Ayden Moore
alternately democrats could stfu and give the president all he wants fuck off theres no consequence to productive people and i frankly dont give a fuck if all the nogs on assistance starve to death
Andrew Phillips
I'm actually okay with 5B for a smart wall, I think it would still technically count to have full 24/7 detection and LIDAR can even detect tunnels. Make El Chapo pay for it, its a done deal, technically Trump didn't lie because its a "wall of light" and made a Mexican pay for it.
Samuel Rodriguez
It's a 5 billion dollar wall. These fuckheads want to put the country 125 trillion in debt for healthcare but cant spare 5 billion for a wall.
Nathan Edwards
u forgot to turn off your meme flag shill
Aaron Johnson
He’s a Jow Forums Janitor
Nathan Young
Take out a loan and refinance. That’s what I’d do at least. Most government workers probably aren’t smart enough to do that though.
William Gomez
We dont all live with out parents friendo
Jack James
except it is how the real world works. companies, contrary to what they say when they hire you, don't give a fuck about promoting within. Often, it's better to quit your company and reapply from the outside for the position you want.
Cooper Wright
Stick it out and maybe you’ll get to skip two or three steps in promotions because all the diversity hires left for gibs. Maybe you’re a diversity hire, management here you come!
Christopher Foster
>what is vehicle maintenance >what are property taxes
Cameron Morales
Ultimately if you’re a federal employee, you should be prepared for things like this. Shutdowns happen regularly. There are pros and cons to every job. Most federal employees get fantastic benefits. Not working during a shutdown is the price they pay.
Aiden Hill
I should be a licensed CPA by summer time, then I’ll be applying to new jobs in force. But I’m also getting married at the end of 2019 so I’m not sure if I want to shake things up too much.
I unironically would love to be an FBI spook lol
Thomas Brooks
Dave advises you to have a six month emergency fund, and explains how to get one.
take it up with the faggots who won't do their job and build that wall. they were told no wall no gov. build wall or stay shutdown i dont givafuck.

You. I’ve survived college. I went to the food bank regularly. I worked odd jobs off of Craigslist. I know the depths of poverty. Right now, I’ve been out of work two weeks longer than the government. I went to uni yesterday and re-inrolled. You are responsible for your own actions. I don’t want to be unemployed. I am the only person that can change that. I don’t blame the government, magahat kids, or unicorns. It’s nobody’s responsibility but mine.
