OPEC members have been shitting up price strategies of US crude oil for a time now, and they need to intervene in one of the member countries to get their hands around this thing while also indirectly threatning remaining OPEC members, and Venezuela is just presenting a perfect target for them.
You'll see, if they do intervene, take down Maduro and establish some pro-US guy, keep an eye on next OPEC meeting resolutions and you'll see what I mean. Also some "free" oil deals for US oil companies is just a bonus.
To be honest, the situation is set up so perfectly for the US that I wouldn't be surprised if Maduro getting up and taking the big seat was part of their set up.
