The seventies were a time of extreme political tension and social turmoil in the United States. During that time, no less than 57 serial killers emerged and hunted their victims. The political / social tension in the United States has reached a heightened level again, right now. Studies have shown that there is a link between social tension and serial killing. Are we on the verge of another crop of serial killers springing up in America? Or, with the advent of forensic and crime fighting technologies, will serial killers have to be more clever at how they kill?

We are probably not on the verge of mass killings. Not only is the survelience technology far better than it was (a double edged sword, rivals who wish to use violence can find targets much easier than they could as well as get maps that show them every major and many minor paths to get to their targets,) but the Snow Flake Generation doesn't require death to be devastated emotionally. Any sick fucks who need an emotional release can simply post a boy with a MAGA hat and get hearty keks as the triggering begins.
For all the cowards who don't know: Real Snow Flake culture is any person of any race who was raised to never criticize anyone else for any reason. When these people are presented with criticism and or challenging ideas, they often freeze up, cry, explode with rage, go crazy, etc. If the person you are talking to can't conceive of a different way of thinking, they are a Special Snow Flake.
Also, food is still very easy to get for the average person and the media is smarter about not broad casting serial killer activity. Most serial killers attacked hookers and bums, people that have been largely forgotten. This means less attention on their crimes and more freedom of movement for the killer. Contrast that with the Virginia Sniper's case, where they were shooting random people in broad daylight. Check points went up everywhere and once their vehicle was correctly identified, they were caught quickly.

If we were to parallel the behavior in the seventies with today (they are similar in their updated way) then I would guess we are at the point where protests by the left would end, and we could see organizations like the weather underground pop up, and the left will replace their protests with actual violence.
