Aiden Cox
That would be way too complicated to comprehend for the average American brain.

Has to be done at a state level, but yes. I see some more liberal states switching to it soon with some unexpected consequences once they notice that it actually hurts their side
Elijah Robinson
>35 seats for lolbertatians
Funny
Hunter Thompson
(((They))) will never allow that to happen.
Nolan Wood
They should switch to an individual system.
Instead of voting for a "party" you vote for an individual. That person obviously has opinions and policies, but is not bound to any "party line" that might make them change what they say.
Of course sides would form naturally, but they would be much looser and more easily replaced than the current ones.
Cooper Morales
No you should not. This leads to things like Merkel staying in power for 16 years despite the fact that nobody voted for her.
Direct democracy is the only way forward. Parliaments made sense in the pre Internet era.
Tyler Thompson
OP, you aren't as dumb as you look.
Luis Bailey
Based Kraut.
I support either direct democracy or a monarchy.

It wouldn't matter, the government would still be as split and paralyzed as it is now. The political divide in the US isn't so much liberal vs conservative as it is urban vs rural. In fact with a switch to a parlamentary system conservatives would lose more.
The average liberal voter today votes first and foremost for government gibs. Medicare, Social Security, "homeless crisis", "drug crisis", you name it. They look at problems in society and jump right to "more money for government will fix it!". They are the monolith. The basic platform for every liberal party would be "muh bennies the rich will pay for it!"
Meanwhile the GOP would facture in to parties that can't cooperate, with some being boomer neocons for Israel, others basically American Taliban, some legitimate ancaps, etc.
Unironically the only way to return America to it's original founders is to strip the right to vote from anyone who isn't a property owner and deport every black and hispanic in the country. But that won't happen and people are too comfy to start shooting politicians so instead we'll have a slow decline to Brazil tier society by 2100.

I think you should be the one reading a book, a proportional system is entirely different from First Past the Post voting.
Ryan Price
yes
Noah Cook
no this has always been a retarded system, the founders laid out the optimal structure of government
Michael Butler
>direct democracy
t. Socialist faggot.
Mob rules in a direct democracy. That's why we're a republic
Brody Cox
There aren't 2 parties. They're all backed by the same special interest groups and big money. They split on a handful of social issues, nothing more
Cameron Hernandez
? But that is what the US is, de jure.
Dylan Brooks
MFW the U.S is first-past-the-post system.
nuke us already.
Jose Green
Won't change anything. You really believe that they will start being sensible and make policy that actually helps people? They'll just have more names you yell at and more parties to blame.
