Hey Jow Forums,
I've just got an idea when making myself dinner for the next week.
Hunger is terrible. Going hungry for days, and not being able to provide for your family is a nightmare. Believe me, I know. If there's anything a socialist state should be providing, it's access to basic food.
Fuck shit like welfare, basic income and food stamps. These money should go directly to providing food, not a system that's so easy to abuse.
I can live through a week spending about $5. That's roughly $260 a year without going hungry. And that's buying in detail and including all the taxes. People living on welfare cost the taxpayers waaay more.
So why not make something already cheap and easy to handle, e.g. dried pasta, free for all citizens?
Paid with taxes by all, free for all. Imagine going into a store and having pasta for $0. If you want anything else, pay (work) for it. Then it could lower my weekly spendings to about $3, and let's be honest, even a beggar makes more daily.
The distribution would be handled by the people themselves, taking just how much they need/want from the store.
It would benefit everyone: homeless, old, sick, poor, even the rich, everyone willing to eat pasta. I believe it would also help with fertility rates.
I know some people living on welfare. There's this woman, who's spending all the money she gets the next day on booze and smokes. Over the week, she sells what she buys with foodstamps to the townpeople, making more money for booze. And guess what, mid-month she's walking around begging for food.
Free food instead of welfare would fix a situation like this.
And most probaly would cost less than welfare/foodstamps, addresing the point more directly.
