Is there any genuine defense of free speech from a libertarian / ancap point of view?
I hear some libertarians defend companies like Facebook and Patreon from no platforming people like Alex Jones or Sargon. It is unfortunate that these tech companies have effectively monopolized where ideas can be expressed online.
Perhaps one must be a classical liberal as well if you genuinely believe in free speech and free expression of ideas.
>these tech companies have effectively monopolized where ideas can be expressed online yet here you are, able to type nigger and faggot all fucking day.
John Cook
Jow Forums bans people nerd.
Lincoln Rivera
>I hear some libertarians defend companies like Facebook and Patreon from no platforming people like Alex Jones or Sargon.
Everyone has it wrong. The left needs to be bashing corporations for their shit-tier behavior. We should do the same thing. Too many ayncraps worship corporations when they are half of the antithesis of freedom.
Hunter Cruz
Well for things less anonymous and be able to make revenue from it. Jow Forums is probably the freest place on the internet
Landon Martin
The only way you have even some freedom of speech is if the state enforces it otherwise you get companies like this who will simply censor and ban you when they so desire.
Gabriel Clark
But it's not free though, you do not have full free expression since you can be banned here too lol.
Matthew Miller
Many companies do indeed lobby the government for economic benefit.
Adrian Stewart
So your ideology fails, and since you want a "voluntary society" and businesses that only seek profit what do you think will happen.
Grayson Stewart
>I hear some libertarians defend companies like Facebook and Patreon from no platforming people like Alex Jones or Sargon. >It is unfortunate that these tech companies have effectively monopolized where ideas can be expressed online. Facebook and Patreon aren't the problem. Even PayPal and MasterCard, which kill free-speech-loving competitors of Facebook and Patreon, aren't the problem. The problem is the GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS on payment processors, which kill free-speech-loving competitors to PayPal and MasterCard.
Hunter Jackson
See also how the New York government has been pressuring banks to refrain from dealing with guns. It's all the government's fault.
Lincoln Sanders
If we took power away from the government, what would these companies do?
Jeremiah Flores
A minimal capacity for personal responsability, "bussiness" it's a noumen, meaning it's an artificial thing not a natural thing.
So it responds to a natural human who is more than just a monetary transaction waiting to happen, they have deeds and responsabilities, principles and ethics.
Nathaniel Adams
Fund another state, build an army, and then repeat the same process
Gavin Ramirez
>The only way you have even some freedom of speech is if the state enforces it otherwise you get companies like this who will simply censor and ban you when they so desire.
The first amendment doesn't protect from companies doing exactly that to begin with. Corporations are already free to ban any speech on their platform.
James Cook
The government should generally stay the fuck out of peoples lives, but it should be there to make sure corporations don't become the new government. There can't and shouldn't be some perfect balance between the two (because that surely means the common man is getting fucked), but a never-ending struggle in a system where it never goes overboard in either direction the political/economical/social pendulum swings.
Elijah Davis
>So your ideology fails, and since you want a "voluntary society" and businesses that only seek profit what do you think will happen.
Violence is expensive. Not everything is done for "profit".
Josiah Garcia
Humans hate personal responsibility that's why they will form a state and then take your shit and redistribute it. lol
Logan Russell
The erasing of Alex is disgusting. It should scare you. Sargon is a G and also YouTube has turned into an onion cancer tornado. Free speech is essential in order for both sides to communicate and make society better. Lack of communication is death of society- the MMM is gross; we are statistically less divided than the Nixon admin. Some bad shit about to go down i reckon unfortunately. Thank the radical left
Daniel Martinez
Yes we have a shit capitalist system I understand that's why it fails.
Carson Williams
It is still more free than many other places on the internet.
Pretty hard to find any country that actually defends free speech. The US is quite an exception. I would support defunding colleges that no platform controversial speakers.
Competing platforms like SubscribeStar is still a possible solution or even better decentralised platforms could be an answer.
Parker Morgan
If your customers value free speech, you’d be a fool to deny them.
Aaron Reyes
>Let's fuck someplace else.
They also hate taxes, but here they are anyway.
Matthew Kelly
It's cheap in the long run if they can force people to do as they wish
>Fund another state, build an army, and then repeat the same process
So, you admit that they are weaker without the state or else they wouldn't try so hard to reestablish one.
Angel Gomez
But collectivism and post modernism has been so beautiful UuuWWuuUu
Ayden Johnson
"It is still more free than many other places on the internet." And? still doesn't prove that companies will not ban and censor you when they desire.
" Pretty hard to find any country that actually defends free speech. The US is quite an exception. I would support defunding colleges that no platform controversial speakers.
Competing platforms like SubscribeStar is still a possible solution or even better decentralised platforms could be an answer." Subscribe star got their payment processor removed thanks big banks and other companies.
Ian Edwards
the government should stop funding Google and twitter.
Lucas Phillips
Ancaps and libertardians worship capitalism, even if it destroys white people and western civilization.
Noah Rivera
Natsoc is way better than the degeneracy and near societal collapse that will lead to the extermination of your race buddy.
Jeremiah Sanchez
This is the case 1488
Carter Davis
> > >It is still more free than many other places on the internet. > > > >Pretty hard to find any country that actually defends free speech.
Exactly... name me somewhere else you would rather live honestly. Canada? Mexico? Venezuela? China? Belarus? Greece? ... sigh, etc
Julian Roberts
I am saying that with a state you will get companies and people that will use it for their benefit.
The state has almost unlimited power compare to companies. They have the authority to forcibly tax and initiate violence.
Private businesses will seek to exploit this.
Without the state they can certainly still try to beat competition using violence but this is costly to themselves.
The state cares not for cost because it just takes more from the taxed populace.
Luis Wright
They will still ban you because they seek profit and since more customers support you being banned they will do it #thankscapitalism.
Christian Russell
>It's cheap in the long run if they can force people to do as they wish
>if they can force people to do as the wish
Then the point is to stop them from being able to force people to do as they wish. The state doesn't justify its existence through pure violence. It's thanks to faggots like you that beg to be cucked by it that it's still around.
Bentley Rivera
.... >F-35
Asher Anderson
>Yes we have a shit capitalist system I understand that's why it fails.
Yes, free markets are far superior to what we have now.
Ryan Lewis
>I am saying that with a state you will get companies and people that will use it for their benefit. " and without a state a company will form a state to use it to their benefit
>The state has almost unlimited power compare to companies. They have the authority to forcibly tax and initiate violence. yup and they can use it against businesses
>Private businesses will seek to exploit this. indeed i'm no capitalist
>Without the state they can certainly still try to beat competition using violence but this is costly to themselves. thus they will form a state to do it for them
>The state cares not for cost because it just takes more from the taxed populace. Lol indeed.
Honestly free markets are simply choosing to eat a shit sandwich instead of being shot, when the next day you will be shot all the while these globalist businesses try and mix and destroy your race and culture #thankscapitalism
Jason Brown
> > >It is still more free than many other places on the internet.
LeL- remember Voat?
Anthony Sullivan
If you don't like it; leave. Nobody is forcing to post your shit on facebook, post it somewhere else. They're a private company and can do whatever they want.
Josiah Scott
muh "it's always been this way" argument.
LOL pathetic statist cuck
Elijah Morris
It's almost like it is human nature and it is better to accept it, save your race, and focus on benefiting your people instead of cucking to businesses as they try and destroy your culture race, and everything you like.
Justin Peterson
when every other place bans you because "they are a private company" and you have no where else to go and cannot speak what will happen goy? violence that's what.
Nicholas Green
Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.
stop cucking to businesses
James Williams
>Form a state
This is generally pretty difficulty to do, unless you already have ability to take what you from people (ie states).
War like have seen in history can only be done when you can force the costs on the taxed.
Charles Hernandez
>Honestly free markets are simply choosing to eat a shit sandwich instead of being shot, when the next day you will be shot all the while these globalist businesses try and mix and destroy your race and culture #thankscapitalism
free markets > capitalism
What you call capitalism is not what ancaps call capitalism. The market is not free without anarchy. If anything, our "shitty capitalism" is far more to your liking than it is to ours.
You're a statist socialist cuck, just like all the others. You can misrepresent market anarchism all you want and pretend you won the argument, but all you've done is gloat over knocking down your own strawman.
>I hear some libertarians defend companies like Facebook and Patreon
lol no you don't, libertarians wouldn't even let these companies exist the way they are now, a libertarian government would have swat teamed googled the minute they cut everyone's ad money off.
Kayden Rivera
When capitalism fails bootlickers turn to fascism, then appeal to the left’s “tolerance” and some warped ideal of free speech to spread your very polite calls for genocide.
The “radical left” and people standing up for their basic human rights didn’t turn you into fascists no matter how you try to twist reality.
If you turn to blame minorities for the failures of a flawed system that creates classes of rich and poor, then you only have yourself to blame for not seeing through the veneer.
