It depends on the nation. European nations have terrible birth rates, and importing "workers" is a desperate attempt to avoid economic shrinking as the number of workers shrinks. If you have half as many consumers and producers tomorrow as you have today, then your economy has effectively shrunk just as badly on paper. Meanwhile, the older non-working generations continue to demand their benefits, creating economic annihilation.

In the United States, it's a pure power play by the Democrats to import "workers" who *cannot* compete with American educated workers and can only survive with economic subsidies. Naturally the Democrats embrace these subsidies as it effectively creates a slave class that *must* vote Democrat to survive.

For both it's a means to an end. For Europe, it will simply not work as they need more working class NOW, not in 30+ years when the 2nd generation is brought up and educated to European standards. You need workers who are smart and technologically capable, you don't need 10 million toilet scrubbers and short order cooks.

In the U.S., importing Democratic voters would work, until it stunts the economy and destroys economic growth and reverses the course, which the Democrats would never surrender to as that is their entire power base. Other political parties would be forced to intervene or the U.S. would simply disintegrate as the tax base cannot fund the welfare state and taxes grow higher and higher every year.
