I hated it immediately. The cloth wrapped around my head and obscured my ability to hear properly. It was sweaty. But I was told how beautiful I looked in it. I was told that I was a candy that needed to be wrapped up and protected to remain clean for her future husband. I was not to be uncovered candy who would get covered in dirt and flies. I was to remain pure.

Not fast enough. It's really amazing how the internal contradictions of modern leftism have gone unresolved for so long, the only things holding them together are hate and envy.

It's funny because when they say that the hijab is a choice, they are technically right. Except, it's only a choice for Muslim women here in the west, the majority of Islamic countries have laws against removing the hijab in public, some are even very strict. Sometimes women get beat for it or worse. They beat women in the middle east for cuddling in public.
All traditional cultures lose in the end to Globohomo. That's the price of moving to the west or allowing your country to become liberalized, your culture and tradition will slowly be eroded and replaced by consumerism and liberal social values.

Even this is not fully true. They can stop using it but then their family will most likely abandon them and in worse situation they will get honour killed.

Absolutely, get socially pressured. And keep in mind, they come from a culture where "honour killings" exist, that means if the woman dishonors your family, you can kill her to redeme your family's honour, so they are afraid to do a lot of things, like date white guys, which they would do in droves just like Indian women do.
Islam is the biggest threat to civilisation, not western civilisation but civilisation in general.
