What did you learn about in your history class about the holocaust?

That straight white men are terrible and need to be put in camps and exterminated.

That ww2 caused the depletion of all the fortunes of the west which is why they decolonised(so good thing for us ) . Also hitler was a man of his time and wanted the best for his people

the hate started with forced visits to jewisch memorials. forced visits to museums to show us the nazi crimes about jews. the teachers were also not helpful. they always taught us the nazis are the evil and we all have to take the responsibility for that

They sat us down, made us watch Schindlers List (a work of fiction), made us read Night (also a work of fiction), made us read The Diary of Anne Frank (ALSO a work of fiction), told us it was all real, told us it was the fault of "right wing" politics, told us national socialism was the result of "far right" policies, and that we were evil if we questioned any of the ridiculous things we were told.

For a long time, I believed it. Why would they lie to children, after all? It was such a horrible thing, so it was important that we learned about it, right?

The depth and breadth of the lie was too astounding for a child to grasp.

I will add that all the classes were we "learned" about the holohoax were run by women.

We just learned about the possible causes of WWII and How Hitler came to power.

what happened to the european jews was not our concern.
Our history teacher never harped on the Holocaust either.

Was shown Schindlers list and the school was visited by a "survivor" who tried to guilt trip people in to buying his book about it.

I learned that it happened and lots of people died. We also watched Schindler's List. Nothing that would have been dwelt in, our teacher focused on Finnish theater of WW2 events.

History class convinced a friend of mine that the holocaust was exaggerated propaganda with all the sad music and the crazy amount of documentaries and movies we saw

Well I'm 24 and went to school in West Michigan. Not only did we learn about the holocaust quite a bit, everything we read in English had to do with racial issues. Not a single classic, just contemporary novels where Pocs are the protagonists and straight white men are the bad guys. I honestly got indoctrinated more about race in English class than history class. Anyone else have this experience?

Went to the Holocaust museum 3x in HS to get out of actual work. Read Night or w/e and Anne Frank. Asked my teachers many times why Communist genocides aren’t covered, my parents were called in, we’re Ukrainian. Do my senior project on The Red Terror specifically against Protestant Christians, which is what we are and what my family went through. Asked if sight better sources (interviewed older church members from Ukraine, Russian, Belarus, and Poland). Told them first hand accounts of the holocaust is good enough so are my interviews. B- from Mrs Goldstein.

they told us about the hunt-down of jews but not any reasons nor numbers when we talked about the concentration camps - my teacher explicitly mentioned an estimated number for the first time when talking about the nuremberg trial charade since it was the birthplace of their 13m number

Unironically we had to write a letter from the pov of a jew is Auschwitz. Then we had to write one from the pov of a top nazi at Auschwitz. Guess what one I got an A+ on for most convincing?

We focused on it almost exclusivesly whenever we talked about WW2. And we talked about WW2 constantly, but never the Battle of the Bulge, Stalingrad, or Pearl Harbor. Just the holocaust.

Remembering this actually helped convince me of the blatant control some have over our education.

Our education was total ass. I've been educating myself on my own to try and make up for it. I'm now bilingual, learned in physics and history, know a good deal about certain special snowflake subjects, and have read most of the western canon. Our schools may as well be babysitting centers, even high school. University is pretty good though.
All I remember is endless shit about the holohoax. They showed the same holohoax movies in class over and over to the point I became an edgelord and started laughing at them and making dead jew jokes, long before I found Jow Forums or /new/ even came into existence. Turns out you shove something down people's throats enough they start to despise it. Kikes have zero concept of chill. They're so insufferable, they just can't shut the fuck up.
Holodomor? Not mentioned even once.
Holohoax? Every fucking year. And we got the whole lampshades, soap, and holocoaster dumptruck bit. Even back then I remember thinking, who the fuck needs that many lampshades? The worst is the fucks who go through it and then think they're educated, an idiot who thinks he's smart is the most insufferable thing imaginable. You can't even talk to them, you just get NPC responses back.
