They mostly share the same platform as the League nowadays except 1) the League doesn't praise fascism openly like CasaPound does and 2) the League leans towards localism/regionalism/federalism while CP is very centralist. Low trust in the central government institutions by the general public and the League's more subtle ways of flirting with fascism (making it more normie friendly) mean CP is unlikely to score big numbers.

Still, I wouldn't see why they wouldn't govern together given the right opportunity.

That is entirely correct, you must be following Italian politics very closely.

Salvini is conscious of it and he is working full time to get rid of the stigma: he ditched the "Northern" from Northern League, he started a sister party in the south branding it with his name ("Us with Salvini"), he's steered the League away from northern independentism and towards regionalism for everyone, and it seems to me like he's trying to personalize the League to his name.

Northerners don't necessarily hate southerners they just hate to see the colossal mismanagement of public money in the south, hence the desire to part ways. Managing the south will be Salvini greatest task, if he ever gets the chance to do it.
