ITT we post world alliances and why they've always pissed you off. Doesn't have to be current. Bonus points if you don't point out obvious ones that aren't fun
I'll start: America and Japan It makes absolutely zero sense. If I was a {normal} japanese, I'd fucking loose my shit to have to bow down to someone who humiliated and quasi-colonized my country.
>America and Japan You're implying the japs have a choice in the matter and are not just forced to play along.
Julian Murphy
yes, i assume that, without context of what happened prior to, during, and after the world war with Japanese-American relations, Japan and American alliance would be confusing.
Anthony Howard
>burgerconfirmed.jpg that isn't the foundation on which your alliance is based upon. not even on the top 25 reasons why
Alexander Wilson
American rebuilding of Japan after WWII allowed it to attain a nearly unrivaled level of wealth and prosperity while still maintaining almost all of their cultural heritage other than elements that they themselves disposed of. If you call it colonization, it was literally the single most generous and kind colonization in all of human history.
Carter Sanchez
>f I was a {normal} japanese, I'd fucking loose my shit to have to bow down to someone who humiliated and quasi-colonized my country I get the idea you have no notion of Nip culture. You're aware of how they thought of surrender yes? What they did to PoWs? Death before dishonor? Seppuku?
Any existence they have is indebted to America. The yanks could have glassed their entire island. Their culture would have had them all disembowel themselves for losing in such a disgraceful manner... Their God Emperor was no God.
And fuck you for making me sound like a weeb.
Thomas Phillips
Yes but don't pretend like you did it out of the kindness of your hearts or because you share common ground and interests. It's just another way of pacifying (no pun intended) your enemy to get something out of it for yourself. The thing that i can't seem to understand is how far this meme was allowed to go.
Carter Butler
>japan and usa retarded example moron
>humiliated they saw it as a good fight and let's not forget that they fucking started it, Japanese people aren't whiny kikes who can't get over shit that happened in the past,
scene from The Last Samurai (yes i know it's just a movie, but it has some elements of truth, japanese have an honor culture) youtube.com/watch?v=q5HeSglGezM
>quasi colonized you mean rebuilt? we treated them a lot better than we treated the Germans. Compare the following two videos and tell me who should be more mad that they're our ally today, Germans or Japs.
>world alliances and why they've always pissed you off. The pic related one. God I hate America.
Logan Rivera
yes... an ally against a communist foe, but strangely they now have an ally against a chinese foe. huh I wonder if they have anything in common?
John Moore
Me too
Camden Price
Those videos are very crafty. They were made with the assumption (probably correct) that most troops were racist towards the Japanese but not the Germans, so they would naturally be less suspicious of and more lenient towards the Germans. Those videos are meant to 'balance' that out by encouraging the troops to be easier on the Japanese but harder on the Germans.
Ayden Stewart
Geopolitical convenience is the ONLY thing that alliances are based upon, you dumb larper.
Zachary Torres
Why the hate, Ivan?
Zachary Fisher
Whether a gift is given out of genuine altruism or an alterior motive doesn't make it less of a gift. The simple fact of the matter is that the Pacific theater of WWII was started by an unannounced attack by the Japanese on US soil, and over the course of an extended and hateful war, the Japanese came to assume that if they lost, they would be utterly destroyed, a threat nearly realized when white people in the deserts of New Mexico created a bomb that could rip physics apart to explode entire cities. And yet, America did not destroy Japan (though certainly many americans would not have minded), and instead allowed the country to not only survive, but become the best east asian country by far. Naturally, America did this mostly in order to use Japanese territory to extend its power, but what does the Japanese citizen care? They are alive, they are wealthier and safer than the chinese or koreans, they have all the luxury of the west with as much of their cultural tradition as they want. What more could they ask for?
Cooper Collins
>it's okay, they were just "balancing" out their internal biases with those propaganda videos. Yay anti-racism! Kill youself dipshit. The soldiers were pushed to hate Germany more because they hurt the precious kikes whereas Japan only killed worthless chinks and besides they aren't evil Aryan monsters.
Angel Allen
Don't be stupid. Americans didn't care about the holocaust in the 40s. How could they, most of the evidence had yet to be fabricated. Americans fought Nazi Germany because they were allies with Japan.
Wyatt Wright
no silly bluepilled burger, it's not the ONLY thing that alliances are based upon.
Flat-out wrong. Remember that the US only got into WW2 because they white-knighted China and embargoed oil export to Japan until they left China, leaving Japan with the choice of either leaving China or seizing oil by force. Americans by far hated the Japanese more, and only began to hate the Nazis to the same degree once people found out about the concentration camps and genocide and whatnot.
Aaron Young
Unanticipated and unannounced are not the same thing, retard. Whether the United States government knew about the attack plans before they happened or not, Japan still performed the attack before declaring war.
Declarations of war are stupid. Pearl Harbor isn't bad because it's a sneak attack (that's a good idea), but because the Japanese were in the wrong to attack the US.
David Parker
Un-ironically, I'm starting to think Russia and America have more in common than America and Western-Europe; or Russia and China.
Think about it. The average populations of America and Russia are much more conservative than the average population of the developed world, they both love hawkish foreign policy in order to keep loyal puppets in power, have vast tracts of natural resources; plus, the Russians are pretty white.
Meanwhile the Western Europeans are opening their gates to the hordes of Africa and the Middle East, and they look upon us with disdain as we don't.
The American-Russian enmity is a carry over from 30 years ago, with the end of the cold war.
America is the spear and Japan is the shield. The nukes ending the war prevented the soviets from taking part of the country as they did in Germany. America turns Japan into vassal state and rebuilds their country allowing them to massively boom economically until the 1980s. Our cultures are somewhat compatible, at least they used to be.
