It's amazing how open and unpopulated this picture is. Today, there is concrete and homes all over the place. I miss the days of yesterday when the place wasn't billions of people full.
I;m guessing from the title it not Germany only . I'll post some US ones.

That fair was the reason why Art Deco, an actual good style, developed.
I like gothic and intricate religious build works for the east (see angkor, india, mesopotamia (pre muslim) and Japan.
Europe's gem was gothic. I don't get the classical hard on. It looks soulless and bland. Gothic was sometimes full of colours, yet dark and foreboding and honest about the true nature of the universe. Classical style was pretending your universe was perfect, when it wasn't.
Art Deco was good because it did small changes to the preceding styles without turning into the modest crap. What resulted was a comfy and luxurious feel that you no longer get with modern architecture. It also didn't try to hide the grit in some way as it felt a little "naughty" compared to classical architecture.

Yikes. That's like the average American now.
looks comfy as fuck. Imagine all of the glorious non-toxic foods you would eat to be that weight at that time. No sugars, no GMO, no HFCS. Damn.
German population hasn't changed much since WW2.
There are still many places like that.

Lunchtime
1822 Dunno where it is.. Paris maybe ?
dont think they ever imagined it would get this bad. look at how peaceful these pictures are. a homogeneous society doesnt really have to be in fear for the future. We're in the mess, we inherited it. But its OUR job to clean it up. If we cant rise to the occasion then you cant blame the past generation anymore than you can blame yourself. no more blackpills and pity, need to stand and deliver.

Much better today
Boring.
Gothic is interesting as fuck. Why have plain bread when you can have the special garlic, herb and cheese version?
Why can we appreciate reality? I'm tired of this talk about aesthetically pleasing architecture as "the good old days" when in reality, euros in the past made extremely ornate and interesting architecture like gothic architecture.
You look at angkor and india and you really do see some similarities too, like the thing inspiring their architecture (perhaps turmoil and chaos) was the same thing. Why hide the chaos in a facade of marble when you can use chaos to your advantage?
Modern architecture is, of course, the wrong way of using chaos. Making piles of poo and calling it art does not make it art. You need to seduce the beauty from chaos. Look at this early renaissance (nearing pre-renaissance) painting of the archangel Gabriel. There is something more to this angel than the angels that came after it, it's alive with colour and passion, it's almost sinister too (likely to symbolise the burden God puts on his people).
You just don't get that in idealistic paintings. That subtle critical nature, yet endorsement of the beauty of chaos.
This is always depressing to see
That's beautiful
Chaos took it away from you.
So we need to learn how to get it back quick.
de- delete this............
I bet he was strong as fuck.
Because life is suffering and unfulfilling and art is intended to deliver us through the transcendence it provides. Like Wagner or neoplatonic sculptures. If you have realistic art it binds you to existence and potentially just makes you lost in it. It is passionate but suffering, or even pure hell if you get lost in it Like Jow Forums
This isn't making me feel happier at all
>Classical style was pretending your universe was perfect, when it wasn't
The fuck are you talking about? Classical was usually very basic and pragmatist, there was nothing pretentious about it. Also, holding a higher ideal than what is average is what forms the basis of civilization. Contentment and tolerance leads to barbarism.
A lot of the dead nazis still don't know that they're dead.

>"Nuremberg, scene of so many disappointments for Bomber Command, finally succumbed to this attack. The Pathfinders produced good ground-marking in conditions of clear visibility and with the help of a rising full moon. The centre of the city, particularly the eastern half, was destroyed. The castle, the Rathaus, almost all the churches and about 2,000 preserved medieval houses went up in flames." - RAF Bomber Command Campaign Diary
