there are two reasons why it might take longer: 1. is that they fail logistically, but I doubt that, I think the americans are formidable in this area; and 2. is that they try to keep the siege alive to get a win from inside, based on defectors and such. This would be a more "legitimate" win, as the world audience will not see boots on the ground but rather a wholly Venezuelan affair. I think there's a limit to how long they will wait, but this could be allowed to simmer for a while.
