Let's face it, the Second Amendment, right after it talks about the right to bear arms, says "well-regulated". This shows that the founding fathers realized that giving the people too much uncontrolled access to firearms could be a bad thing and that someday it would be necessary for new laws to be passed.
They did not have assault rifles when the Constitution was written in 1676 but they knew that technology would continue to improve weapons. That's why they included the "well-regulated" part. It affirms the ability of the government to restrict access to guns if it is in the country's best interest. And right now, it's in our best interest to do just that.
Now, we do have a "right" to bear arms in this country but that does not mean you can own whatever you want to. There's no reason we can't just ban all assault rifles and STILL have the Second Amendment. You'd still be able to own a single shot rifle or shotgun and a revolver for hunting and protection. You just would not be able to own a gun capable of firing multiple magazines from a 30 round clip in just a matter of seconds. Bans and confiscation won't be easy, but the 30,000 deaths caused by assault rifles every year should be a strong reason to do something NOW.
Don't you get tired of posting the same thread every day?
Evan Scott
More like "MORON labe". Hahahaha
Says the guy who feels so scared by everyday life that he needs to walk around with a military style fully semiautomatic assault rifle for protection. Paranoia at its finest.
I get tired of seeing our children gunned down every day. That's what I get tired of.

There’s no way you could be as fucking stupid as you’re acting.. I’m calling shenanigans!
Here is the sentence in brainlet terms that liberals can understand: "In order to maintain a militia for self defense and defense of state, the right of ALL citizens to own firearms shall not be dabbed on."

They allowed private citizens to own Warships with a fuckton of cannons on them. Fuck off lying faggot.
Christopher Gonzalez
Why is everyone so pissy about this? Is it perhaps because all of you know damn well that you don't NEED an assault rifle? You have no use for such weapons. Leave them to the people who have the training to use them, like the military or the police.
What purpose could a rifle with a should attachment and armor piercing bullets along with a barrel shrood have?
Asher Gonzalez
But they no longer allow that so your argument is invalid and you should feel bad.
Grayson Long
That's not going to happen since through your own ignorance and stupidity you turned the AR-15 into the most popular rifle in the country.
I look forward to your posts being used as evidence in your trial.
Isaiah Morgan
Funnily enough assault rifles are pretty much regulated to the military. Civilians have access but it's very restricted. And I don't think there's ever been a mass shooting with an NFA item. Secondly >bill of needs

Because literally everyone in the country is sick of your shit.

Just replace “regulated” with “trained”, because that’s what it meant at the time. It makes much more sense.

When the day of the rope comes I will save a full mag to empty in your commie face.

That is NOT me.

Why did they include that last comma? That's always thrown me off. Why didnt they write "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" what does that comma add?
Nolan Powell
>You just would not be able to own a gun capable of firing multiple magazines from a 30 round clip Fucking kek
well regulated means keeping the weapons in good condition and accurate. Properly functioning weapons would be a better translation.
Evan Bailey
It's one easy to understand sentence. OP is a shitposting retard who can't comprehend simple English.
Ryder Anderson
Yeah, but they’re talking about the militia, not the guns. The idea is that a free state needs a skilled militia, so they need weapons and free access to them.
Connor Peterson

>Why did they include that last comma? youtu.be/rhBwHiLcTG8 I think it’s covered in this vidya
At the time "regulated" meant "properly functioning". It didn't mean that the government controlled it, that's the opposite of the 2A's intent, which was to ensure freedom from government tyranny, which OP would love to have happen.
Benjamin Diaz
How about I replace your guns with dildos instead??
There are lots of people out there who want to ban guns. Stop being paranoid. And besides, where do the rules here say that we can only talk about an issue one time? As soon as a thread is archived you can repost it. Stay mad.
Grayson Gray
So tired of having the same arguments over and over. It's a problem we keep answering with a different solution again and again. We need one final answer to this issue. One final solution.
Jose Foster
It is understood that 'well regulated' means 'well equipped' in today's vernacular.
Adrian Morales
Pretty sure the founding fathers would want us to have power rivaling that of the government in the event of an overthrow needing to arise.

>firing multiple magazinea from a 30 round clip He’s not a shill he’s a troll and a thread slider. Just stop
God, I love these threads. I know I shouldn't. I know you're either sliding, or you're a troll, or you're just a gun grabbing statist fuck who is the Leftist version of the Church Lady who wants to control every aspect of other people's lives because you're a shitty, soulless, ideolog who wouldn't know a good time if it jumped up and bit you in the ass. But can't help myself because it gives me an excuse to post about guns. So, as standard procedure, let's hit the high points. >"well regulated" That meant "well trained. Fun fact: there used to be firearms courses and rifle marksmanship teams in high schools and grade school kids were taught firearms safety. Leftists got those banned in the 70's. So firearms culture went underground. Because the fastest way to make something popular in America is to tell people it's illegal. Dumbass. >They did not have assault rifles when the Constitution was written in 1676 A rapid fire rotary cannon, the Puckle gun, cwas 80 years old at the writing of the Constitution. The Giardoni Rifle, a twenty shot repeating rifle was a decade old when the Bill of Rights was drafted. And again, "Well regulated" meant "Well trained." Which Leftists have been trying to do away with. And failing miserably at for decades >Now, we do have a "right" to bear arms in this country but that does not mean you can own whatever you want to. At the time the Constitution was drafted, there were privately owned cannons and warships. >30 round clip Jesus, the retardation. It burns. >Bans and confiscation won't be easy, but the 30,000 deaths caused by assault rifles every year should be a strong reason to do something NOW. Okay, you're retarded or a troll. "Assault Weapons" kill fewer than 100 people a year.
The Bill of Rights says nothing about well regulated firearms. It says, "well regulated local militias"
Sage and hide posts from this dunce if a shill.
Blake White
>There are lots of people out there who want to ban guns.
There literally aren't. No one who isn't a brain dead college student or a septuagenarian democrat actually wants to ban guns. There's a reason most of the threads about gun control are started by foreigners. You are a tiny minority of insane people with absolutely no public support.
Dylan Evans
Yea and it also says "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" right after that, so whats your point you drooling brainlet? Who makes up the Militia? (hint: it's not soldiers)
Why are gungrabbing faggots torpedoing their own argument by referring to the text? its exceptionally easy to grasp if you arent an ESL beaner or a purposefully obfuscating soiboi kike.

Not what "well regulated" means.
"Well regulated" is an expression that was akin to "good working order, up to date, current, well equipped".
There is plenty of examples of the phrase in literature.
If anything, the "well regulated" phrase is an argument to be JUST AS armed as the military itself.
Jose Stewart
We'd be better off banning liberals.
Elijah Parker
you're glowing, shill, how about you fuck off you delusional tyrant.
Why would anybody argue for literally LESS rights? Un-American.
The only time the word “necessary” appears in the Constitution is the 2nd Amendment.
So yes, I do NEED an assault rifle.

>muh well-regulated means we can outlaw it "Well-regulated" was a phrase in common use at the time the 2nd amendment was written; it meant simply "well-ordered." There are references in letters of the period to a "well-regulated gentleman" or a "well-regulated household" - neither of which referred to gentlemen or households being subject to legislation by the government, just that they had their affairs in order or displayed self-discipline. Even in regards to arms, while "well-regulated" had a connotation of "well-disciplined" or "well-prepared" as well as "well-ordered", it mainly referred to practiced and prepared. "Regular" soldiers, and later "regulators", were both so named because they drilled together, not because they were restricted by laws. So there's been a subtle linguistic shift. We know longer use "well-regulated" in every day conversation, and we've gotten used to regulations in the government sense (which is a problem in it's own right, but that's another thread). So when crybaby liberals with no sense of history or intellectual curiosity see "well-regulated" they think of, like, environmental regulations, man, so why can't we have something like that? When really, founding any claim for gun restriction on "well-regulated" ought to be embarrassing for them, and we ought to push back on the fundamental premise.
Yes they are. Wanna bet? Youll be handing them in within 10yrs, tops.
Angel Reed
The more weapons we can give to law-abiding, good hearted civilians, the better they have against a tyrannical government that turns on it's own people. The government aren't your friends, they never were, they're a conglomerate of special interest groups that chip away at your rights and privileges, even your freedom - or what's left of it. The sooner people realize that, the better. A law-abiding citizen shouldn't have to turn to government entities to defend themselves against criminals or individuals wishing to do them harm, whether it's to them, their family or their property, we can defend ourselves.
Its not an assault rifle. Its just a semi automatic rifle. Comparing modern firearms with 1776 is irrelevant considering the idea was meant to be compatible with outfotted military. Its a system of checks and balance. How you dont see this, shows lack of intelligence.
Chase Kelly

How are you going to accomplish that? In the last twenty years, we've doubled the number of guns in circulation, made it easier than ever to carry them legally, and halved the murder and violent crime rates.
Seriously, check yourself into a mental institution while you still have the option to do it voluntarily.
Samuel Sanchez
Any chance you know what textbook that's from?
Lincoln Myers
>You WILL turn your guns in when it comes down to it. I doubt it. Ask New York and Connecticut. They both passed sweeping bans on scary salt rifles. And had a 90% non compliance rate. People mostly ignored the law. Because here's the problem you face. There are 400 million guns in America, and, at minimum, 98 million gun owners. All law enforcement combined are 1.5 million. The military is another 1.5 million. So, assuming posse comitas is out the window, that's 3 million vs 98 million. So, what happens is when the government goes all gun grabby, they'll go all in and Waco or Ruby Ridge a few high profile people to set an example. And all hell will break loose. "But, muh drones, muh military." It will be an insurgency here on US soil, not on the other side of the planet in some Mideast shithole. They'll be truck bombs and IEDs and EVERYONE who works for the government bwill become a legitimate target. Politicians will have to live in virtual armed camps and low level government functionaries will die by the thousands. It will be ugly and brutal. And this is the reason you're in here shilling for gun control. Because as long as the public is armed, you can't enact the Socialist Utopia you want. There are too many guns in private hands. It's happening in Canada, too. Canadian MPs are saying there already may be too many privately owned guns to enact the total ban they want at just a million and a half guns.
>Yes they are. Wanna bet? Youll be handing them in within 10yrs, tops. Our firearm rights do not come from the government therefore the government cannot take them away.
Noah Ortiz
We the People created government as our servant, not our master. We the People decide whether or not the government may use weapons in carrying out the duties We the People delegated to our servant. The second that the servant attempts to usurp the authority of the master, treason has been committed, and the servant must be put to death.
Ethan Rogers
Lol the assessment they made about well regulated goes against pro-gun narratives
