I’m just going to be blunt about it; America’s depression epidemic is a direct result of the all-encompassing alienation we experience under late stage capitalism, and now private interests are attempting to recuperate the general public’s feelings of hopelessness and despair into marketing material, the spectacle in effect recuperating our despair and making it appear that the powers that be are on our side. That we are being watched over by boardrooms with loving grace, despite the fact that they are part and parcel with the forces of economy that has driven so many people to not see any hope in their lives. By recuperating the public discourse about the root of endemic depression, the status quo is able to trivialize it and sterilize it before before safely incorporating it back into mainstream society. Not only are we unable to strike against our enemy, most of us can’t even see them for what they are, and the rest of us can’t even speak to the truth of what they are capable of.

Pay attention to little bizarre happenings like these, they betray the rest of the iceberg

BUMP. go on.. this topic is the topic of 2019.

It's a little disconcerting how large corporations are trying to act like sassy teenage girls on social media now, and how so many normies fall for it

And yeah. Capitalism has torn the heart and soul out of western civilization, and replaced it with plastic and money. Doesn't mean the answer is communism though, the problem comes from the Industrial revolution/enlightenment itself

Attached: 650_teddete.jpg (644x327, 33K)

....was marx right?

This is actually really unsettling.

I think the widespread depression is due to a lack of meaning from the abandonment of religion by a large part of the country. Really interesting to see this perspective though, disgusted but not surprised corporate media would do this. The elite are all such pieces of shit. Also, did anyone see Jeff Bezos' text messages? These people are so fucking weird, every last one of them.

>he thinks its "capitalism"
Stopped reading there, you stupid fucking commie. Grow up a little, read some books worth reading, and get back to us.

Ok but why is it like this? Is the root cause economic / material or is it moral / metaphysical? Your opinion on that is what determines whether you're a leftist or a nazi. I will remind you that people have had these feelings for all of modernity, not just in late capitalism.

>Jews rape the economy and every institution in the country while pulling the biggest robbery in human history not once but twice.

>Blame capitalism

Shut the fuck up, you retard. We're in this mess because of religion.

No. Marx is just another jew with a desire for worldwide egalitarianism, mostly due to his own feelings of inferiority.

Teddy was right.

I think it's more of feminism destroying society. I don't even want to have a family because the fear of losing all my shit, many of my coworkers have had their lives ruined because of divorce.

>under late stage capitalism
Ah, the capitalism boogey man strikes again.
How is /leftypol/ these days?

Both, I'd say, but Metaphysics comes first. There's no doubt to me that we are undergoing a greater metaphysical decline - the natural lifecycle of Civilisations and all that. The economic and material woes are merely the immediate manifestations of this decline.

Ah yes... truly Mr. Kaczynski's only real crime was getting too blackpilled and choosing the Tracer Tong reaction to technology rather than trying to teach humanity how to better live with it, rather than for it.

That and bombing semi-random people.

Capitalism is just as corrosive and degenerate as Communism. They're both fundamentally unnatural.

Attached: wessex.jpg (800x453, 70K)

I think it has to do with the loss of religion.

Atheism leads to nihilism, and nihilism is fucking depressing. I should know, I’ve been an atheist since I was like 7, and only in the past 2 years have started to grow more spiritual.

It's fun to Ted post but if you do it here, you are just as part of the problem.

these conversations need to happen in person, with massive amounts of people

that is the ONLY thing that scares the powers that be. large masses of people unifying under one message.

figure out how do to that, and you win.

It's called wealth extraction. Look it up. It never stops.

>trade is unnatural

grow up.

You're right we should all be self suffcient with no trade or exploitation for everyone.

Depression has genetic and environmental causes. The biggest causes are:
A. Left wing media pushing their propaganda. This has serious effects. In less than 50 years we went from marriages to divorces.... Children born out of marriage to bastards with dead beat dads (yes plural).... Alpha males to beta males. House wives to single working moms.... Superiority in whites to now hating straight white men. What’s wrong is right and what’s right is wrong. No one can live this way without some sort of consequence.
B. Unhappy and unhealthy relationships due to lack of communication.
C. No coping mechanisms also play a major role in depression.

>muh latestage capitalism
People are broken because the traditional family collapsed. Fathers left the home. Fathers who didn't physically leave the home became emotionally distant from their children. Instead of actively raising their children, they spent their free time after work watching ESPN and watching porn.

This

Where did he say trade is the problem? He's blaming the unsustainable growth that capitalistic systems head towards.

why is this image 404'd?

Its called being a cocksucking communist because you don't have a father. I would tell you to look it up but you're already an expert.

It's multiculturalism you fucking retards

>import people who hold sufficiently different beliefs about the world
>loss of social capital
>low social capital causes people to become consumerist to attempt to fill the hole left by lack of strong social ties
>all races reduced to consumerist mass and encouraged to mix together to further reduce any possibility of conflict

desu you can blame it all on women's liberation and the collapse of birth rates

once you reach adulthood you need a reason to live and mindless consumerism and/or buying a dog is simply not cutting it

I think it’s a rejection of religion, a lack of adversity in life and a loss of social cohesion. I don’t think it gets fixed without a severe catastrophe.

I've seen it in the boomer generation. Women were programmed to despise their roll as woman earlier than you realize. Things like doing the dishes and cleaning the house were not only beneath them, but caused them psychological pain. What was worse in that generation is that they wouldn't get jobs with their free time either, instead they wanted to keep the support of men without reciprocating. Basically nigger attitude, they felt they deserved it for past fictional transgressions they were constantly told about in the media.

That's what really sent up the divorce rate the highest. There's simply less marriages now because the often cited metric 50% of marriages end in divorce. Constantly parroting this also puts both partners in defensive posture, emotionally, which prevents the vulnerability required for a real relationship to blossom.

religion in a generic sense.
not cuckianity.
not having an ethos, cultural beliefs, natuonal and ethnic spirit, all produce a healthy mentality.

> The left destroys the morals that were the grounds of family which in turn is the most important and best source of true happines for humans.
> Blames capitalism for it

Come on.

religion in a generic sense.
not cuckianity.
having an ethos, cultural beliefs, national and ethnic spirit, all produce a healthy mentality.

I think the problem with capitalism is that people associate it's successes with what was ultimately an artificially inflated war economy.

This means that we need more government control in the economy, which is basically communism, when you think about it.

>I’m just going to be blunt about it; America’s depression epidemic is a direct result of the all-encompassing alienation we experience under late stage Judaism, and now Jewish interests are attempting to recuperate the general public’s feelings of hopelessness and despair into marketing material, the spectacle in effect recuperating our despair and making it appear that the powers that be are on our side. Loss of religion and morality is probably another good guess.

I suspect you and the other two have different definitions of the word "capitalism". How do you define it, and what do you propose as the alternative?

>blames late-stage capitalism
>doesn't blame (((the people))) who have eroded our heritage, our values, our ability to succeed, and our ability to be cohesive as a group for white straight individuals through continual vilification and pushing of self-loathing and forced diversity
Mmmmm hmmmmm.

You have some very good points.
But I don’t think the problem is capitalism per se.
I think it’s the fact that capitalism is controlled by the 1%, and they in turn control the government with money.
Adam Smith never said that capitalism should be unregulated.
Deregulation is a Republican creed, and it is gnawing away at the heart of the once great middl class.

Don't forget the incredibly unhealthy diet in most western countries, fried pleasure receptors from constant masturbation and pornography, the list could go on and on. How the fuck did we end up in this mess? oh wait.. (((them)))

That's one piece of the pie. Capitalism. now is a perverted version of itself. Now it's basically a private oligarchy where the biggest corporations cab lobby out politicians to pass bills in their favor. Who do you think pushed multiculturalism in the first place? The corporations wanted cheap labor and did not want to give back to the community.
Multiculturalism is one of the weapons used by ((them)). Others are feminism, controling the flow of money, the university meme, and the media/entertainment.
That's the whole pie I believe

>America’s depression epidemic is a direct result of the all-encompassing alienation we experience under late stage capitalism
name the effects of leftism as the primary cause, and I'll agree that progressive leftism is driven by capitalism and corporate interests

This thread needs to be posted every day just like all the other slide threads.

We need to start collecting meme pics to post in here.

>Wahh I'm literally paid to post on the internet my life sucks

Reading about the lives of my actual ancestors turned me from a social progressive to a social conservative.
The European pioneers dragged their possessions across hundred of miles of land. Floated down rivers. Cleared hundreds of acres of land. Worked the land. All of this not to get rich, but to make a life for themselves and families.
They watched children die to disease. Their lives were hard.
Our lives are no longer hard.
Our basic needs are easily met.
Yet so many people feel a big hole inside. And don’t know how to fill it.

>late stage capitalism
anyone using that term should be hung

Its because we've never had to fight to survive. No great war, no unifying cause for us all to strive towards. We're stuck here while those at the top live a life of 5 minute luxuries.

>why is it like this?
Family, community and social capital have been obliterated. Most don't feel like they belong to any group.

I find the most tragic part of where we're at is the death of art, and the complete deterioration of what things actually cost and how to maintain. Growing up my dad worked in tailoring and he was good at it. He never really taught me more than the basics.

As I got older, what he would bemoan was that "fair quality for fair price" was a dead concept. That the market was dominated by cheap garbage sold at high enough mark ups. The problem he always had was not that these options existed, but that they tainted the entire market around them.

>Hello, Papa user, I want to buy a bespoke shirt.
>Ok, it'll cost about $125 minimum, with prices as high as you want for details, finer cloths, etc. It'll also be reasonably good quality, fit you great, I'll make it here, and it'll have a long life span.
>But Papa user, I can go to L.L. Bean, and get a baggy as shit, meh life span, made in China shirt for $40.

And this really has gone into virtually everything to some degree that requires craftsman ship.

A bespoke shoe can easily cost $1200. And that's a fair price for the amount of labor and materials that go into it. A well made off the rack shoe by a good operation will cost at least $200, and reasonably $400.

>So, you can buy this shoe from Alden or Carmina or Trickers or whatever for $350-500 and it'll last you 2-3 resolings if well taken care of. Easily 5 years, maybe 10-15 years.
>But I can also buy this dress shoe from Clarks held together with glue and made in Vietnam for $120 that will last maybe a year.
>Then I can also buy another after that year for $120.

You have this eventual outcome where to buy good things at fair prices is completely unknown to the larger market and everyone is inundated with crap. You also get the dilemma that no one takes care of crap properly - you should never hang a sweater, you should always use a shoe tree, a suit should be brushed, etc. Very few people are proud of what they own.

I'd say capitalism encompasses the idea of trade being controlled with private corporations rather than the state. I wouldn't want to replace capitalism, I think it does a good job. My issue is that its spiraled out of control and needs to be reset, which may just happen naturally. I wouldn't call the capitalism of today very efficient in social and technological progress (however one might define those).

>late stage capitalism
Stopped there lol please work on critical thinking skills. You retards have been shouting that for two centuries

Lots of truth there.
We've been in a disposable society for at least a half century now, and it's not going to change unless literal war breaks out and items become scarce and are suddenly treated with more respect for keeping their longevity.

My old biz location was at a former appliance repair store that had been gone for 2 years before I took over their location. Even after changing the sign out from their old name, I'd still get old guys 75+ years strolling in periodically with a broken electric razor, power tool or something of that sort who were desperate to get it fixed, but could barely find anywhere that would do it in this era. That was 15 years ago, I can only imagine how scarce such places are now who can fix and maintain such things, we're all so used to just trashing shit as soon as it's outlived its best days. But quality does suck now as well, sheeit, I still have some of my dad's power tools that work great from 40+ years ago, then I buy new shit that falls the fuck apart in less than a decade even with proper maintenance. Made in China should be warning shot for anything you purchase to know it's pure garbage.

We didn’t have the wisdom needed to have it improve lives. The money powers will keep something good from getting into the public.

I think we're already in it. All the media platforms are building systems right now to control the narrative, things like shadow banning, takedowns, "the chilling effect", etc. There is no accountability in govt and we live in a plutocracy. Our education system has failed us. The idea of owning a home for the majority of americans is never going to be a possibility. We're already in it.

We already have craploads of regulations, though. I think the problem is that the government is colluding with the established corporations to suppress competition (via regulations and intellectual "property" laws), which leads to monopolies and near-monopolies. We need less government intervention in the economy, not more.

I agree with all your points, I don't think regulations will fix it at all. Perhaps a laissez-faire economy would be able to fix the problem, but at this point I think there's too many companies that are "too big to fail" that the only solution is to hope for a collapse, where we can rebuild from the ashes.

The funny part is there is also so much of it being owned despite being garbage. People used to own much less, but much better.

For instance, tons of shit came into American outfits because they were parts of military uniforms. Why? Because well made shit was expensive, and military uniforms were free. So, you had khakis, bomber jackets, chinos, etc become a part of what people wore for a decade and eventually when that shit broke down people replaced it with the same stuff. Like your grandfather owned probably two suits, two pairs of shoes, a spare set of trousers, a work jacket, military uniform parts, a few sets of underwear, and a work set of clothes and that was it. But this stuff was also well made, flexible in purpose, and maintained reasonably well.

I suppose the worst part of it all is really that average people can't actually even afford the amount of "good things" their grandparents had simply due to the rarity of them today.

That's pretty much where I'm at, too. Any reform that works will be indistinguishable from a collapse.

Hard working white Europeans created this country. Go fuck yourself.

Morality isn't tied to religion. Again, go fuck yourself.

You can make small changes in the right direction. Go buy yourselves a cast iron skillet and put it in your will.
I buy them, sand them, and re-season. I gift them to people on the holidays. My pans make Teflon look like a cheap imitation. You can’t imitate the uniform heat in any other skillet either.
You can find these in thrift stores for almost no cost if you have a tight budget. Came across a very small one which is perfect for one egg or burger. It was rusted and looked unappealing. Sprayed oven cleaner on it and let it soak for a couple of days. Cleaned it off, sanded it, and seasoned with bacon grease. It’s a badass skillet.

We’ve never tried capitalism

The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.

2 Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.

3 What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?

4 One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.

5 The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose.

6 The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.

7 All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.

Only way to make good cornbread
