Experts say synthetic diamonds only represent about 3-5 percent of the consumer market, but the share is growing rapidly.The man-made diamond jewelry market will grow 22 percent annually from $1.9 billion to $5.2 billion by 2023.

They themselves could drive the value of gem-grade diamonds to next to nothing by flooding the market. And the technology to make synthetic diamonds has been around for decades. The Chinese just "liberated" it like they do with so much of the West's tech. Tool-grade diamonds are as mud. Russia alone is just sitting on trillions of carots of tool-grade diamonds.
