I just moved to a rural town (in Taiwan)

And I'll be buggered if I know how to make any friends here.
I'm friendly with some of my coworkers but most of them don't seem to have any interest in me - or at least don't show it - and I'm too shy to initiate. And well.. there's really nothing here for me to do where I could make friends. What do?

It's a town in Nantou, so pretty much bumfuck-nowhere.
I'm not really a sporting guy. Honestly I'm a bit of a loner. I have some friends back home but I wouldn't say the relationships are that close. But it would be nice to find some people here. I just don't know where to go.

Taiwanese use LIne as the main app for communication. No idea if it has some dating functions though.
There's also the Tea Lit forum and Forumosa for contacting other expats.
