What color blood were you taught to have inside your body

Me and my family have been discussing weather blood is red or blue inside the body. They claim it turns red when exposed to oxygen but I swear it’s always red. Does anyone have actual proof that it’s one or the other or is it just conspiracy?

Bright red when oxygenated, dark red when deoxygenated.

Arterial blood is deep red, veinois blood is blue.

no it’s always red. pouring one out for op and his senpai who cant even use google.

That doesn’t makes sense, of course it is red at all times, like it’s the bloods job to carry oxygen to the brain...

ppl say this because veins are blue

like everything is the color of whats inside it.

white and gold

My blood is as blue as my spirit feels

Your veins are bluish purple. Only horseshoe crab blood is blue, I think because it isn't iron based?

Blue and black.

Books put blue on veins blood for a mere representation. Are you 12?

Human blood is always red because of the hemoglobin. Arterial blood is bright red, venous blood is dark red. The blood vessels for veins look bluish under the skin and the veins are made blue in anatomical diagrams in order to distinguish visually between arteries and veins. When you are cut and bleed the blood oxygenates and becomes a brighter red than it is inside your body.

However, there are some animals (namely invertebrates) that have other colors of blood, including blue.

the fuck is a penis worm

*than it is inside your veins.

Also, here's something to point out to your family. If blood is blue inside the body, why do we blush red? Why are our thin-skinned areas (inside of mouth, nose, eyelids, etc. show red blood? If blood was blue inside the body then all of those would be blue, too.

If blood only turned red when exposed to oxygen it would still be red inside the body because it carries oxygen.

Horseshoe crab blood is uses copper to carry oxygen, making it blue. Humans and most other animals have red blood from using iron

>marine worms including peanut worms, penis worms & brachiopods
>penis worms

epic win

Everybody here is wrong mostly.

Bright or deep redness is from oxygen levels. Real blood over time will look almost brown. It's old blood.

Blood inside is always bright red. I'm mid 20s and remember being taught or hearing the blue blood thing. So a lot of people think it's blue because veins are blue. But that's not true either. Your veins appear different colors due to the undertone of your skin. You can use it as a reference to skintone when applying makeup or choosing a new hair color.

They are blue for some people, green or purple for others. It's an illusion.

Other people might be confused from diagrams of the body with red and blue veins but this is just to show the path of oxygen in your blood.

if you go swim in the amazon you'll soon find out

There's also a sea animal called the penis fish that is sold as seafood in Northeast Asia.

It's red, I do injections to myself and it's always red lol
