The 19th and 20th centuries saw huge waves of Irish, German, and Italian immigration. It is true that there's a lot of people who think they're German but really aren't but that's because any immigrant who wasn't Irish or Italian like Hungarians were just called Germans. Franz Seigels foriegn Corps was full of all kinds of immigrants but they were all called German to keep it simple.

The french are so strange to me because it seems like they have the largest variance of phenotypes. Maybe its just the hollywood goggles of the only ones i see.
