Then they use their unions to extort employers into paying them exuberant and outrageous wages. These assholes are then able to afford to buy homes unlike all those kids who actually went to university, got liberal arts degrees, and became overburdened with student debt.

I'm going to school to be an accountant because I'm tired of being an aircraft mechanic. An aircraft mechanic gets way more respect and about the same pay as an accountant sometimes more depending on where you work.
However, it's hard to claim to be an accountant with an air of pride. It just seems like one step above a secretary.

I work on a fighter jet factory and the workers, the technologists and the design engineers all have their own fields of expertise that barely intersect.
A worker must know a thick book on how exactly to tighten the screws, literally, its a complicated and very responsible procedure.
A technologist knows how to apply heat resistant coating and how to tell if its ficked.
But neither of them know what they are making, for them a turbine disk is just a fucking circle and they dont know what it does or where it goes.
A design engineer (me) knows nothing about how they make those, i have no idea whats the proper cutting speed for titanium alloys but i know where the circle goes, how entire engine assembles and when they screw up and cut too deep only i know if its still going to assemble and work.
I wouldn't say a worker knows much less than i do, he knows a different narrow field. A technologist might actually know more than I do, the lead technologist - certainly do. Although design engineers are considered the top of R&D foodchain.
