Used to be a fan of Tim's, and you're quite right that his stuff often comes off contrary to his intentions and beliefs. For example, a lot of his work can be viewed as a send-up of the decline of "White America". It works as a critique of globalization, the fracturing of the social fabric, etc, but Tim, in his own head, is actually blaming the victims for this, even though this is not conveyed at all in any aspect of the work. I guess if you keep things ambiguous, that's a successful artistic strategy & you can coast by. Twitter was his downfall
