do some research and find out what chemicals of the brain antidepressants activate, and find a natural way to produce thise chemicals activated by the antidepressants.
Number 1 recommendation : MOVE. Do anything, go anywhere just go somewhere.
No 2: Stop looking at the big picture so much and just focus on today.
How about getting over traumas? My gf suffers from depression, has trust issues and dysmorphophobia which led her to develop anorexia nervosa. Any time she spoke with a professional they just told her to get some Xanax, but I doubt it's that miraculous
Thanks for the cute video
Antidepressants will change you forever and there are changes you will never be able to quit. That said if you feel suicidal you might have no other choice. Your brain is defective anyway.
in my opinion the best way to get over trauma is to just focus on the present, and achieve so many things that are awesome - and when you feel these good feelings consistently, the past automatically seems to fade away and you get more excited about the future.
anti depressants don't work if the definition of depression is a hormonal imbalance

Wish it worked like that. Doing my best to help her, but she still has huge fears. She was abused by her ex bf for example, and she's afraid the same might happen with me
why not go to a couple counselling session?
Long distance relationship, will move in together once I'm done with uni next year. Plus, I always got the feeling they distance you more than they help
get a list of counsellors and contact them and ask what sort of methods they use to help couples. Most of them will have similar core methods, but some will have different sorts of variations. Also ask for testominale if possible from previous clients.
Even after all this you can still choose not to go, but I think you should get some sort of third oarty for this.

There's a difference between situational depression and clinical depression. Either way, counseling would be a great start if your depression is bothering you this badly. Just be sure to see a reputable and licensed therapist.
As far as clinical depression goes, antidepressants are worth a try if they're prescribed by someone who knows what they're doing. Exercising daily, nature walks, and a healthy diet can only do so much. Herbal remedies are a meme and should be avoided outright.
Becoming neurotic might help. Create a schedule, and never deviate until you become a machine and die.
I was diagnosed with depression in 2011 and I never ever took antidepressants, having goals that make you want to improve yourself helps.
Don't let your past define yourself

You don't need to be scared of medication user, they are very safe. I have been on Lexapro for 3 years and would be fucked without it.

first thing: it may or may not be depression
People conflate or confuse depression with things like natural sadness and sorrow and mourning. In the average Jow Forums user's life though, it's also easy to conflate depression with being a victim of your shitty shitty surroundings.
If you get kicked out of college and it makes you sad, it's not depression. If your grandma dies and that makes you sad, it's not depression. If you still live at home and you hate living there and you're also studying some bullshit you don't even care for and you also have to work a shit job and you hate everything, it's not depression. If you feel like shit because you stay up getting into arguments on Jow Forums until 4am every night, it's not depression.
Well it's PROBABLY not depression at least. It's perfectly natural to feel like shit when you life is shit. Depression is somewhat like not being able to feel anything at all, or feeling hopelessly suicidal despite having a good life. In other words, depression is not circumstantial. it's not feeling sad in sad situations, etc.
Its not as obvious to spot and diagnose yourself because when you break your arm you saw what happened when you broke your arm and you feel the pain and you see it bending where it shouldn't bend and it's very obvious. it's not so obvious with mental issues.
This.
I spent 4 years as a NEET and was neglecting basic hygiene and my overall health and it was real bad and fucked up and I thought I was depressed.
Turns out, the problem was just that I wasn't exercising. My mood shifted and I got my life together within the span of a year. It all started with daily night walks.
You are wrong. There are separate classifications for clinical depression and situational depression, but situational depression can trigger deep-rooted spirals that can transform into long-term clinical depression if left untreated for longer than just three months. It isn't uncommon for people to go to counseling and even take medication due to a shit situation that's causing the depression, just so they are able to get out or through said situation. Grief over the death of a loved one is common for this, actually. It can send you into depression that might span several years. Just because it is situational/triggered by life events doesn't mean it isn't "real" depression and isn't treated the same way as such.
