Because a system as large as the national one we're operating now needs people to have a currency system so as to exchange goods fairly and to have a central value that everyone finds valuable so we don't have to go through a fetch quest of bartering until we get what we want all along, and through using money, which can be later traded for goods of your taste and need, you can guide people to create things.
