Honestly, here's how you fix it so there's no possible way for companies to avoid paying taxes.

10% of all gross income from sales within the US goes to the US federal government, and 2.5% goes to the state government. Bam. They can't evade taxes by setting up their shit in Ireland or Cyprus, they get taxed exclusively on how much money they take in. We'd collect far more taxes than we do currently while at the same time reducing the actual corporate tax rate so (((they))) can't complain we're raising taxes. Then implement a 15% flat tax on all sales and purchases, and get rid of all income taxes except for Social Security.

Simultaneously, execute everyone involved in Social Security, and only make people who actually paid into SS able to benefit from it, by giving everyone a personal SS account. Welfare leeches can remain on their welfare, but they can't benefit from Social Security.

And that's not even counting marketplace sellers on Amazon, which are small and medium businesses using their platform. Amazon often isn't even the cheapest, although they are usually the most convenient. Their returns and customer-service are also god-tier.

People shop with Amazon because they're a pleasure to do business with, not because there aren't other options available.

The root problem is government power. That power can be bought. Thus, laws will be written to favor those with wealth. Thus, the largest companies will pay zero taxes.

They're not "taking" anything, they're getting tax breaks in return for employing thousands of local people who pay local taxes, and they also purchase local products to cover operations, they also hire local contractors and maintenance firms to take care them. Very much a net loss for New York, hopefully Amazon will find a place like Sioux Falls or Ogden or Montgomery that won't say no to a massive employment opportunity.

They don't even sell the majority of the products hosted on their website, its mostly done by independent resellers, the majority of which are US-based mom and pop businesses that use FBA to beat out a profit from the inefficient Walmarts, Targets, and Costcos of the world.

But wait, looking at my profits and losses over a period greater than just a single year, I'm actually still in the hole $100k overall. So my business didn't really make $30k, and is it fair for the government to consider this $30k as profit that's taxable when I'm still in the red factoring in prior years losses.

This is why IRS allows individuals and businesses to carry losses forward (I think for up to 20 years for corporations), and one of the many completely logical and reasonable reasons big companies like Amazon can end up paying no taxes. Amazon's tax credits they've accrued aren't going to expire until the early 2020s, so you guys might as well just get used to it.
