Selective breeding is the bomb. Russian strains apparently do pretty good as hygienic bees and they're probably the most suitable to your climate. I've heard mixed reviews on whether or not they're aggressive or more mild tempered (one Youtube beekeeper swears by them, another curses them).

I watched a documentary on some hippies in california, i think. They catch and keep them, they dont need any care and produce high yields. You need super protection and cant keep them near humans though.

Interesting, but only hippies would keep bees that want to murder them. With more normal breeds you can beekeep in your shorts if you're so inclined and have the proper amount of expertise.
Even with high yields of honey and low hive maintenance requirements that doesn't seem worth the extra effort, just to harvest in what has to be close to full body armor. There's plenty of vids where killers aren't even deterred by full beekeeping attire.

Some bumblebees will patrol areas, hovering above a spot and chasing away or attacking any other flying insects that come near. They do it to wasps, dragonflies, sometimes even birds. I used to watch one of them do this in my yard by my porch while I sat outside smoking. That bee was dedicated.
