AFAIK "Space Force" will consolidate all the logistical and operational and security programs under one jurisdiction. Absorbing the AFSC, JSoC, etc etc. Make everything more streamlined.

Space is the ultimate high ground.
All the battle field advantages like GPS, weather forecasting, surveillance, navigation, communications are derived from space assets.
Add to that a disconnect in officer promotions where the fighter or fixed wing generals are getting slots that should be going to space generals, but not the other way around.
Not to mention the nukes and space lift missions that are under space command as well.
And last but not least financial priorities within the AF revolve around flying, and not space vehicles. Ultimately those 'fighter' generals send money to what they know best.
IMHO, should be a separate force.

Just a reminder that the Space Force thing was Trump's way of out maneuvering executive order 13744 from Obama (Oct. 13, 2016) which established a committee with access to all major departments (defense, homeland security, transportation, etc.) in order to fight against "space weather threats". The committee was named S.W.O.R.M. and would have served as an impenetrable deep state bulwark against his presidency as in order to get access to any of the meeting minutes you would probably have had to have security clearances and permissions from each departmental head. In short, it's a red-tape hurdle. Trump's solution? Make something bigger than it which subsumes its authority. Hence Space Force.

I assume it will replace AFSC, but I find it hard to believe that the other branches are going to want to give up their space capabilities to the Air Force. Navy and Army also already have Space Commands of some form.
