Unanimous Supreme Court Curbs State Power to Levy Fines, Seize Property

> The U.S. Supreme Court curbed the power of cities and states to levy fines and seize property, siding with a man trying to keep his Land Rover after he pleaded guilty to selling drugs.

> The unanimous ruling marks the first time the court has said that states and cities are bound by the Constitution’s ban on excessive fines, part of the Eighth Amendment.

based

And redpilled

Good.

why the fuck should he be able to keep his drug money car

Does this effect red flag seizures at all?

Is the car made out of drugs?

> doesn't understand due process

No of course not, because guns are bad mmmkay

A blow to every socialist autist out there

Power to the PEOPLE

Thank you President Trump !

because the cops only did it at the behest of a competitor

>Trump had absolutely anything to do with this 9-0 decision
If anything its a rebuke to Trump because his justice department was seizing all sorts of shit. But in reality it has nothing to do with him at all.

idc

>unanimous
So, you are telling me SCOTUS was Ruthless?

this is good news
States that use forfeiture, siezure, and fines as a regular revenue stream are gonna be mad.

The age of holding citizens upside down and shaking them down for cash to meet budget shortfalls is over.

how does this affect el chapo's wall payments?

It incentivizes police to arrest people based on what assets they can seize. Turns them into Bolsheviks.

>someone asks a question
>accuse them of not understanding the subject matter

About damned time.

>What is a rhetorical question
You are a fucking retard?

Twenty years too late.

better late than never

I was talking to my fudd grandpa this past winter about deer poaching in our state. He said that if the DNR catches you shooting a deer that you don't have a tag for, they seize your gun, the blind you shot it from, and even your car if you transported the deer. They then turn around and auction off the guns and blinds, and eventually give you your car back. The person also can't get a deer license for a few years and has a couple thousand dollar fine. Meanwhile, a legal deer tag is like 50 bucks and there are millions of those rats running around the state. There is no way anyone can justify taking that much property from someone simply for shooting a deer out of season or without a tag. There is only one positive from this whole ordeal:
>mfw the DNR auctions off those seized guns and I can get prime fuddlore for dirt cheap

He had documentation proving he had purchased it legitimately with his father's life insurance payout. The state didn't care.

a rhetorical question is a question you ask to advance rhetoric. Which is not what they did.

>Trump is doing nuffin goy

>Remember when Obongo could swipe your shit for voting Republican? Good times.

Sure Reddit.

>If anything its a rebuke to Trump because his justice department was seizing all sorts of shit. But in reality it has nothing to do with him at all.

He appointed TWO of those justices.

>he appointed TWO of those justices
>unanimous decision
this isn't even on the level of basic arithmetic. trump apologists can't even count.

>If anything its a rebuke to Trump because his justice department was seizing all sorts of shit.
Are you a fucking brainlet? This case originated in 2015.

Fucking-A you libshits are dumb.

So poaching is just fine with you? The Chinese and other Asians we catch in my State with huge amounts of animals that have low bag limits or out of season need to be handled. There is no "you only poached a little." I feel any level of poaching should result in actual jail time and a lifetime ban from hunting nationally.
